Ok well most of the MENA members know my hubby had his interview in Cairo on August 13th. He was told he was approved but put into AP. It's been 3 weeks today and when I call the DOS (whcih I do several times a week) I get the same thing.......still in AP, nothing is wrong keep calling back. I have looked around and found some information on AP in Cairo but not much that has been helpeful. Does anyone have any statistics on what current wait times are for AP in Cairo and any tips on what to do to pass the time?? Thanks guys!!

Don't drive yourself crazy. TRY to carry on a normal life as possible. Call DOS once a week and e mail the embassy every other week. You could be on AP for a few weeks or a few months or even longer and there isn't anything you can do about it unless it extends beyond 6 months...then you may want to get your congressperson involved, for what that is worth. I know it feels like a life time, but it has only been 3 weeks. He will be there with you before ya know it.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Thanks Nagi, yes this part by far has seemed the longest. I do carry on with normal life. I am busy here with work, my 2 kids, the yard, you know the usual stuff. It just feels like a huge empty space is in my life and nothing will be right until Tarek is here.

Hey Betsy, so I called DOS today and was told they havent made a final decision yet???? they somehow think I was married before and now are checking up on that. Hubby told them I wasnt, interview was confusing, they asked about my sons father/my husband and he answered them but didnt mention that I wasnt married to him. They wanted a divorce decree and he told them I wasnt married and that maybe in Guam I was considered married but nothing official on paper. the nice american woman that interviewed him said everything was fine but just needed the divorce paper from me. He went back and she took the divorce paper back from him when he told her I wasnt married and she said to wait the usual 2 weeks to 2 months. anyways, the lady from DOS was very nice and told me to call back in 2 weeks. I'm praying for us all!

I hate to hear that!! Sounds like you are in AP too. WOW this is a tough time. Luckily hubby is way more patient and keeps reminding me how much we have been through already. Let's keep our hopes up that we get out really soon!!! Was your husand interviewed by "Jenny"??? It seems that everyone she interviewed was placed in AP and everyone interviewed the next week by the African American consul all got no AP.

Hey everyone

me my self wouldnt believe that i got out of that embassy with my case approved ..passport taking ..and even after that happened i thought they must be kiddin and no Visa ., but i got it after a week el hamd le ALAH

my Interviewer was an african -american one , and i must tell ..my Interview last for nearly 25-30 Min ..of hard deep QUESTIONS that represented all my relation and my life before and after ..and even oth families life and members ...

she even asked me to go out and wait till she looks into my papers that i brought her (phones -pics -emails etc )

then i was called and she told me ( ur case in UNIQUE ) which make my face red of being afraid ..then she told me cong u r approved

then i asked her about the AP and what it mean

she told me that AP happen either cause of name ..of investigating the facts in a relation and the represented documents ...name check is faster than the investigation stage ...and not in necessary that all who name Ahmed or Mohamed etc put on AP (she said ) , every case is diff ....

and she added `` when we r so convinced that the relation is real , no doubt in facts presented ..then the case is approved and visa is issued ..otherwise we make some work to determine everything an decide ...

the bad isthat no timeline as all of u know for the AP ...

so keep the faith , keep calling and uwill be there sooon ..

later i will put my Interview Exp an fill my timeline as im busy these days ...

cheer up all and

Good Luck

thx man for the valuable information and we really hope the next will be easier :)

so you were not interviewed by jenny i guess.... i would like to ask the ppl whom are in the AP now about the CO which interviewed them ...she was a blonde woman with a bridge on her teeth , is that jenny ?? she don't usually see all the evidences , and she don't even listen enough to what you say when you say , she tries all the time to put you on the corner and make you to defend yourself against her claims that you just want the visa and that marriage is not true ...si i hope ppl won't afraid of that situation as she uses that tecnique to get the truth....and anyways i hope when she says that everything looks fine that she says the truth and that everything is really fine ...that's what she told me but she put me in the AP too

no_where_man

can you please tell us about your interview from A-Z please

disconnection

can you tell us about your interview and what did they ask you

about me hmmmm the normal questions ( personal questions that you should know about your wife ) where did she grow up , what schools did she go to , her full name , her family members names . nothing about it would make you feel worried man .

but i think it depends on the CO now to put you in AP or not ..best of luck :)

Nowhereman, no disrespect to you but you got LUCKY. It really has nothing to do with the validity of your relationsip. I think if we compared our case to yours, you would find less red flags on our case than yours. HOWEVER, everyone who interviewed with the African American consul got NO AP and everyone who interviewed with the blonde, Jenny GOT AP. Consider yourself lucky and we realize we were unlucky to inteview with this woman. It makes no difference at the end of the day because we will get through this too and look back and laugh about it one day. And please stop telling others to be patient unless you are or have been in the same situation at thiers.
