No clues if anything at all will change, i hope not!!!

Dear Custom House Client:

On May 7th 2009 we announced the intended acquisition of Custom House by The Western Union Company. We are very excited to announce that the transaction has been completed.

For Custom House, this acquisition is a tremendous opportunity to solidify its position as one of the world’s largest independent international payments companies and to join forces with one of the most recognized brands in the payments marketplace. Custom House, with its global network of branches, international trading floors and market-leading online platform, has cultivated a diverse client base, significant international payment capabilities, extensive banking relationships and scalable operations. We strongly believe that the value of our solutions and services will be greatly enhanced by Western Union’s international footprint and solid financial position as a public company.

On the other side, the acquisition allows Western Union to increase its presence in the international payments market and significantly expand its customer base in the growing business-to-business payments market. For Western Union, Custom House is a very complementary business and this acquisition is an opportunity to further develop their global payments business by expanding into profitable new growth markets.

This is no doubt an exciting time for us and a great opportunity to increase the value that we bring to you, our loyal clients. During the integration process and beyond, we will remain committed to meeting your current and future needs. In this exciting time of growth and change for Custom House, there is one thing that will not change:

We will continue to provide you with the same excellent services that you have come to expect.

We are proud of what the Custom House team has accomplished and we are grateful for your support. We are excited about the increased potential that will come from being a part of the Western Union group of companies and we will continue to work diligently to help you and your organization.

If you have any questions about this exciting news, please don’t hesitate to contact Ganesh Rao, Regional Vice President, US.

Sincerely,

Peter Ciceri

President, Custom House

I got that email today too! I hope nothing changes so far the customer service has been great!

Question for all you Customhouser's, I did my first transcation and I am just wondering if it usually takes a bit longer for the payment to be processed the first time around? How fast usually do they process your transaction? The email I got confirming the booking says the funds need to be IMMEDIATELY available.

It took them 4 business days just to take the funds out of my CAD account to be sent EFT to USA. Then got an email saying it was processed and the next business day (will be)the payment was "sent". I guess we will see how fast my US bank processes the EFT, if it nots there in 5 business days customhouse can put a trace on it. Has anyone ever had any issues?

It does take about 5-7 days to see the money in the US account.... For EFT that's normal. The funds do need to be available right away, but it takes a few days for the money to come out of your account. I've never had any issues, I've done dozens of transactions over the past year!

I did my first transaction a while back too, and it took quite a while. I was surprised because it was my first, and they didn't ask for authorization from me to debit my account. But it went through ok, and it went into Tim's account no problem. I'm glad because our bills for the wedding were adding up! I hope to do another one before the wedding, but the exchange wasn't very good :( I'm a little picky. I don't want to lose TOO much money..

I'm guessing by that email that everything should stay the same. If it changes at all, believe me, they'll let us know!

Well when you log in and proceed with the transaction, aren't you authorizing it to go through?

I suppose so. I had called because I wanted to be sure I had set everything up right, and would do the transaction right, and stated it was my first one. She said I should receive an email to print off and sign, and fax or scan and email back, and that was the debit authorization for them. After that, she said all transactions would go through, and not take as long. But I never got the email to fill out.

Been awhile since i set up my acct (2005) but once your set up, your good to go, no more signing anything and faxing/emailing back to CH. I found it takes 4-5 business days to complete a transaction! You will see the $$$ taken out of the 1 acct first, then get that email stating it has taken place, blah blah, and soon after the $$$ deposited in the acct

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

My first transaction took 7 days, now I am awaiting the second transaction and it has been four days, add another for the holiday w/e so I am imagining that it will be the 8th or 9th of September for it to be deposited. I have used the ATM a couple of times and I was dinged with $5.00 service charges each time from my credit union in Canada, but as I pay no service charges on the account it wasn't so bad.

I take out money with my TD Canada Trust card too sometimes if I'm desperate. It's a $3 fee, so it's not terrible.

I foudn my first customhouse transfer was about 7 days and now they take about 5 days. If I do the transfer on a Monday, i get the money on Friday.
