I have not heard from the NVC yet after my NOA2 but I wanted to collect all the documents required beforehand. I noticed that my husband's(beneficiary) passport is going to expire in March of 2010. Since the whole process may take up a couple of more months I was thinking about getting it renewed before I send a copy with the ds-230 package.

Does anyone have a second opinion? I have been taking care of this whole ordeal from the begining so my husband does not really have any clue or opinion.

Thanks everyone!!!

I am in the same boat as you are. By the time we send information to NVC, my passport will have less than 6 months validity on it. I am going to ask NVC operator next time I call them if this is going to be an issue. I can get my passport renewed in a day but have to pay $215 for it!!

Let me know if you figure this out before me

No answer yet, but I will let you know as soon as I find out anything.

I spoke to NVC agent yesterday and she said that if passport is not valid for 6 months or more, they wont process the paperwork. She advised me to get my passport renewed. I believe you should ask your husband to get his passport renewed as well.

Good Luck!

Thank you so much for passing along that piece of information!!!!! I am still waiting on a NVC number- its almost tougher than the wait for the NOA2!!!!!

I just checked your timeline. Your I130 was approved on the same day as mine! Did you recieve your NOA2 hardcopy?

I called NVC but no case number yet. This wait is so frustrating...cant wait to get this process to end.

I did receive it, on September 2. Ive been calling NVC a lot, but no case number yet also! I feel like this wait is even harder than for NOA2. I just want to get everything started!! How long does it take for a passport renewal in Canada? My husband is going to request it tomorrow and it should be done within the week or by next hopefully.

I am an Indian citizen so need my passport renewed from the Indian Consulate. Regular process will take about 4 weeks but I think I'll have to do expedite service. It costs you $150 more but you get it same day. Will go the Consulate sometime next week and get this done. Another thing to add to me "To Do List"!!! The list keeps growing everyday!!!

I know the feeling!!! Every night before going to sleep I check off what I did on my list and it seems like I add more stuff instead!! Im in Pakistan right now with my hubby waiting on this whole process- I came about a month and a half after filing the 130 and 129f and am going forward with the CR1 instead of K3. I'm happy I checked the expiration date before I sent it! Still no NVC number...
