The worst thing you can do to someone who is already mad is make a threat to them. This is how people end up dead in America, especially in a country we he could be carrying a gun.

I second this too. I'll tell ya...if anyone had slapped my daughter like this they would have probably arrested ME for beating the sh!t out of the guy...that's one thing no one does: you don't lay a hand on my child unless I approve of it.

Until you have your own child you won't understand why the majority of us are up in arms about it. Hell, you don't even need to have your own children to feel outrage at this.

The guy is gonna get what he deserves. Those of you that would help defend him...you'll get yours too.

Parents should be able to discipline their children as they see fit (short of abuse, of course). Just as it is inappropriate for a stranger to enforce his own parenting techniques on your child (like the man in this story), parents should be able to spank their children in public without fear that they will be taken away after reports from nosy strangers who don't agree with those parenting techniques.

I completly agree Jenn! I have seen parents in parking lots literally hit their children very very hard 5-6 times...but that is very different than light spanking. As others have said spanking has been used for generations; a lot of our parents (or us) here were probably spanked and most of us aren't scarred or destroyed because of this! Here in Brazil it is very common to see parents spanking their children (not beating!! spanking!); however, in the US if parents did this people would freak out! I agree that child abuse is a huge problem, but I do not think that spanking your child within moderation is abuse!

Spanking is really not a very useful tool in discipline, that's why people don't use it any more. Most spanking was/is to satisfy the frustration of the adult - it does not teach a child anything.

I held myself back the other day, as I know over here, I'll end up in jail for slapping a kid back into his mums womb.

He was loud, tearing things down and disrespectful to everyone, all while the parents cheered him on.

When I walked past them I said out loud to my wife, "this is why sluts shouldn't be allowed to breed because they end up with retarded kids".
