Good news: I passed the interview!

Bad news: my SECOND fingerprint is still unusable. Hence, I'm required to mail to the DO "... official police clearances, bearing the original signature or seal of the issuing official, from the State Police. Please include on the clearance all names you have used in the past five years. The police clearances (or record checks) should cover the last five years and be submitted from any city in which you have lived for the past five years."

Questions (and help please!):

1. Do I just submit a police clearance from the State Police?

2. Or do I need to submit police clearances from the state police (as mentioned in the first sentence), city (as mentioned in the last sentence), or even from the county (as mentioned in some other fora)?

3. Is it wise to ask the IO for clarification by way of a letter with a SASE perhaps?

Anyone who experienced the same? Any pointers, tips, etc. is welcomed. I have till the last week of March to send these in.

Good news: I passed the interview!

Bad news: my SECOND fingerprint is still unusable. Hence, I'm required to mail to the DO "... official police clearances, bearing the original signature or seal of the issuing official, from the State Police. Please include on the clearance all names you have used in the past five years. The police clearances (or record checks) should cover the last five years and be submitted from any city in which you have lived for the past five years."

Questions (and help please!):

1. Do I just submit a police clearance from the State Police?

2. Or do I need to submit police clearances from the state police (as mentioned in the first sentence), city (as mentioned in the last sentence), or even from the county (as mentioned in some other fora)?

3. Is it wise to ask the IO for clarification by way of a letter with a SASE perhaps?

Anyone who experienced the same? Any pointers, tips, etc. is welcomed. I have till the last week of March to send these in.

Sorry to hear though, that they had problems with your fingerprints. Hope you get that resolved soon and that you get your oath letter after that.

As for what to do in your situation, if I were you, I would book an INFOPASS appointment, to get this further clarified with an immigration officer.

In the meantime, you can go to your local police station and see what they say there too, as they would know more about what specific background checks they have and what are needed for immigration purposes. Try to get one that covers nation-wide federal FBI checks (not just local background checks), as those are the types of detailed background checks that the USCIS preforms.

As well, you might want to re-post your post in a separate message post/thread, to see if more VJers can help you there....

It was a really nice ceremony. It was a lot of waiting and sitting. The judge said some really nice words, how important was to be a US citizen and how proud he was from us that were not that lucky to be born as an americans and have to be Naturalize. He know how hard is for us to get here and leave our family back in our country. I he was really proud for that. How important Jury Duty is, and all our new duties and rights as a new americans. I felt so happy, and me and my husband were really excited. Today I would apply for my passport.

PD: In our way back home we were talking how my husband never have been call for Jury Duty, Guess what? When we gat back and checked the mail......surprise a letter for my husband to go to Jury Duty!!!!!!! We laughed about it.....What a coincidence!!!!!! Thank you guys for your support and words.

And thanks too, for sharing about that experience here on VJ. Glad that your ceremony went well, and that it was nice to hear the judge there say how important naturalization is for you and for everyone else there. Good luck with your passport application too (btw..feel free to add your info on the VJ passport thread too), and hope you get your passport soon after that. Lol..about the jury duty notice. What a co-incidence, indeed! Good luck to your husband for his upcoming jury duty too (and who knows, maybe you'll be next on the list...hmmm..)

It was a really nice ceremony. It was a lot of waiting and sitting. Updating the list to reflect my husband's oath. It went well but I felt a little let down as to the ceremony itself. The room was very small and crowded - not a nice courtroom as I remember back in 2002 when I took mine. Oh well, it's done and I'm glad we can put the USCIS behind us.

We've gone to one of the post offices to send out the passport application and after a long wait we've accomplished this as well. I thought we would get the certificate bak the same day but I guess it works different when submitting at a post office.

Anyway, thank you all for your continuous support and wishing speedy processing to these who are still waiting.

Thanks for sharing about that experience here on VJ! :star::thumbs:

Interesting to hear too, that both you and husband are both naturalized USCs and that the location and experiences for both of your oaths were different. Regardless, you are both USCs, and that's all that matters. And yes, you can put the USCIS behind you, once and for all!

Interesting to hear too, that both you and husband are both naturalized USCs and that the location and experiences for both of your oaths were different. Regardless, you are both USCs, and that's all that matters. And yes, you can put the USCIS behind you, once and for all!

Sorry to hear though, that they had problems with your fingerprints. Hope you get that resolved soon and that you get your oath letter after that.

As for what to do in your situation, if I were you, I would book an INFOPASS appointment, to get this further clarified with an immigration officer.

In the meantime, you can go to your local police station and see what they say there too, as they would know more about what specific background checks they have and what are needed for immigration purposes. Try to get one that covers nation-wide federal FBI checks (not just local background checks), as those are the types of detailed background checks that the USCIS preforms.

As well, you might want to re-post your post in a separate message post/thread, to see if more VJers can help you there....
