Happy holidays to everyone and congratulations to those who have already seen the light at the end of the tunnel (this applies to most of you)!

I am, unfortunately, still in the dark. My status has not been updated since 9/24/09. Last week I called USCIS phone line, and a representative checked my online status which says:

On September 22, 2009, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case N400 APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the requested information. This case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

I told her that I never received anything called "notice requesting additional evidence or information" except a biometrics notice and I went to get my finger prints done exactly as it instructed. She said that she will make a service request, and gave me the service request number.

A few hours later, I got an email message from USCIS-CRIS@dhs.gov. It says:

We apologize for the error on USCIS Case Status Online that states you were mailed an RFE notice requesting additional evidence on Form N-400, Application for Naturalization. This is a service error. The notice that was mailed out was your Biometric Appointment Notice with your local ASC which you may have already attended. Your application is currently pending and will be worked in the order it was received by USCIS. Again we apologize for the error and any inconvenience it may have caused you.

I checked my status again and again. It has not been updated and it still shows that I am stuck in the blue dot that is "Request for Evidence".

Since it has been more than two months since my finger print date, I made an infopass appointment. Tomorrow I will see a live person (hopefully!) to sort this thing out. It's been very frustrating.

Sherose-Congrats for getting your oath letter! Just in time for the holidays too! Good luck with your oath ceremony coming up in Jaunary! You're almost there and will be red on the list soon too!

Mohanp and Hanhan and Sherose- Wow, what a co-incidence that all three of you have almost exactly the same timelines! Wouldn't it be great if you three met each other at the oath ceremony too!...A VJ reunion, perhaps....cool! Good luck in being USCs the same day!

WaitinginNY-Sorry to hear that your case is "still in the dark". Perhaps it is a NYC thing, as there are other NYC cases that have been delayed too? That's odd too, that you got an RFE and went for such (biometrics/fingerprints), only to have them "apologize" about such an error. Lol..I guess they are realizing that this is a "glitch" in their system, and are causing more panic/worry than there should be, by not explaining that better before. Hopefully, they will get their online system completely fixed someday, but I highly doubt it. Lol..If it makes you feel any better, my online status still says "scheduled for interview", and I've been a US Citizen for over a month now! So on that note, don't count on the online system, as it unrealiable anyways. It is best to get updates by mail and/or in-person instead. Either way, good luck with your upcoming infopass appointment, and yes, hope that results in an interview being scheduled soon for you too (2 months after is sure a long time to wait in NY!...lol...)

Happy holidays to everyone and congratulations to those who have already seen the light at the end of the tunnel (this applies to most of you)!

I am, unfortunately, still in the dark. My status has not been updated since 9/24/09. Last week I called USCIS phone line, and a representative checked my online status which says:

On September 22, 2009, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case N400 APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the requested information. This case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

I told her that I never received anything called "notice requesting additional evidence or information" except a biometrics notice and I went to get my finger prints done exactly as it instructed. She said that she will make a service request, and gave me the service request number.

A few hours later, I got an email message from USCIS-CRIS@dhs.gov. It says:

We apologize for the error on USCIS Case Status Online that states you were mailed an RFE notice requesting additional evidence on Form N-400, Application for Naturalization. This is a service error. The notice that was mailed out was your Biometric Appointment Notice with your local ASC which you may have already attended. Your application is currently pending and will be worked in the order it was received by USCIS. Again we apologize for the error and any inconvenience it may have caused you.

I checked my status again and again. It has not been updated and it still shows that I am stuck in the blue dot that is "Request for Evidence".

Since it has been more than two months since my finger print date, I made an infopass appointment. Tomorrow I will see a live person (hopefully!) to sort this thing out. It's been very frustrating.

I was interviewed on 12/08 thats why i am curious. :help: :star:s of month

The Oath Letter was dated and mailed out on the 16th of December. I hope this will help. I am sure you will receive yours very very soon. Good Luck!!

I was hoping we hear from you as I'm basing my timeline on your experience. I'm sorry you are still dealing with this. I hope you'll get some answers from the Infopass experience.

I made a mistake of calling them and not getting any info except a letter with the same language as your e-mail plus a note stating that I need to wait 45 days before I can make a infopass appointment. Not sure if I can wait that long...

All,

Well, well, well, what a day. I went back today because i was asked to come back for my oath letter since i hadnt been an LPR for 3 years as at December 10th when i went for my interview. Got there and submitted the letter again and i waited for about 15 minutes and then called for "interview". I was shocked since i had done the "interview" on the 10th, i raised the issue and the officer kindly told me that the interview for the 10th was null and void because i hadnt been an LPR for 3 years (i was shocked cos i hadnt bothered studying since the 10th).

I said ok lets get on with it then and here are the questions i was asked;

1. Name one war fought by the US in the 1900's

2. How many voting members are in the house of rep.

3. How long is a member of the house voted for.

4. Who is the father of the nation

5 When do we vote for president.

I cant remember what the 6th one was. I answered all 6 correctly and was asked to wait for the seccond interview. After about 25 minutes i was called in by a lady who conducted the second interview and all was going great untill she saw our joint account statement showing a new address (wife got a job and moved to another town). She now went through everything and i mean "everything" from the begining of our petition, i wasnt overly concerned because my marriage is REAL.

After about 20 minutes of perusing through all that we had ever sent to them she said congratulations, i am approving your petition and that i should wait outside and get my oath letter.

Waited for about 30 minutes and a lady cameout and called my name and gave me my oath letter. Oath is scheduled for February third 2010.

Hi Dorothy,

I am back from the Infopass appointment. My local office is in Garden City, not sure of yours. I don't understand why you have to wait for 45 days after the calling. I made the phone call and made the appointment on the same day. It seems these two are unrelated, because one is answered by national service center and another is dealt with by the local office.

The officer checked my case number, and told me that the finger prints have already been cleared. As of why there has been so long without any development, her answer is that the case is still under processing and I should be able to hear from them within a month. If I still do not hear from them after a month, I may make another appointment to see what happens.

Hope this helps. Maybe we New Yorkers just have to wait longer?
