Pras passed the interview. Oath not done today, due to request for name-change--we will be receiving notice of it soon, and it will be done in Alex.

Dcooper- Oh my, I can't believe that there are delays for yours and for other people who had fingerprints on 10/07/09 and other fingerprint dates at around that same/simliar timeframe!.... :blink:

So for all of you still waiting for interview letters- If you don't hear from them in the next couple of weeks, I think you should all call the mis-information line and/or infopass appointment, to see what is going on with your case, and to confirm the fact that you do have an interview scheduled, as you don't want to have an appointment scheduled, and miss it, just because you didn't get the letter..Hope you all get your interview letters soon. And yes, do keep updated here too.

And to Everyone-Happy Studying. Good luck to all upcoming Interviews and Oaths! Keep up the updates here too.

N-400: Past I-485/2yr green card case touched...., 10 days before citizenship interivew...Huh?

Hi Everyone,

Just to let you all know that I have my N-400 citizenship interview in 2 days...on Wednesday November 18...

And after I had finished studying for the civics/history test today with my husband, he then said to me:

"Why don't you check your online status on CRIS to see if they have any updates?"

So I checked online...Only to discover a new update....

Last Updated: 11/08/2009 (and on a Sunday too, lol...)

Form Number: I-485

Form Title: APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Huh????

"Why are they touching my 2yr green card case now?," I thought. After all, that case was approved 3 years ago....It doesn't make sense....

Are they checking up on my file in preparation for the interview, and seeing if I qualify for citizenship?

What's odd too, is that it said on the online system it says that my case was approved on November 21, according to CRIS...

(which was the same message it was about three years ago, right after I got my green card)

But the "RESIDENCE SINCE" date on my green card says...November 14....(approved at green card interview)

And my citizenship interview is on November 18....

So will they go by the residence since date or the online date, and will it make a difference?

Did this happen to anyone else too?

What do you think? Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc. greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Ant!

I am so excited for you. Good luck on your interview tomorrow. I hope that someone can help you with those confusing updates being recorded on your case. My thoughts and prayers will be with you tomorrow. I am confident that you will breeze through it. The prayers will be to calm the nerves!

I have three questions:

I am still unclear as to what the yellow letter folks keep referring to is.

The only letters I received from USCIS were the two NOAs. First was for biometrics, second is for interview.

I did not send any documents with my application, except for the required passport size photographs. On the second NOA, I am being asked to bring the following:

This letter (NOA2)

Your Alien Registration Card (green card)

Any evidence of Selective Service Registration

Your passport and/or any other documents you used in connection with any entries into the United States.

Should I be bringing tax returns or any other docs not listed here?

Is there a way of finding out oath ceremony dates for the Boston Office? I have been told that Boston does not perform same day ceremonies. I am thinking of a surprise Christmas visit to my parents and this can happen only if the oath ceremony is before Christmas.

And I guess a fouth question (I feel sheepish asking this):

Can I travel on my country of birth's issued passport once I am naturalized, or is that a no no?

Any advice on these above questions is much appreciated.

Guys;

I recieved an additional evidence mail on 11/06 requesting last 3 yrs tax record, Letter says dont mail it, bring it with you to the interview which i understand.

FP done on 10/07. still waiting on IL.

Anyone recieved such letter or update, if yes did you get your IL yet ?

Hi Ant,

I think it is totally normal that they Touch your case few days prior to your interview. I am pretty sure they are working getting ready for you interview too. I have checked for you other forums and some had the same experience as yours. some field offices work on cases prior to sending the interview letter and some others work on cases after they send the interview letter. In your case, your D.O do it after they sent you the IL and before the ID.

Also, the date in your green card is the date that you became a permanent resident so dont worry about what they say in their website.

You are good to go and good luck with your interview. Please keep us update.

N-400: Past I-485/2yr green card case touched...., 10 days before citizenship interivew...Huh?

Hi Everyone,

Just to let you all know that I have my N-400 citizenship interview in 2 days...on Wednesday November 18...

And after I had finished studying for the civics/history test today with my husband, he then said to me:

"Why don't you check your online status on CRIS to see if they have any updates?"

So I checked online...Only to discover a new update....

Last Updated: 11/08/2009 (and on a Sunday too, lol...)

Form Number: I-485

Form Title: APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Huh????

"Why are they touching my 2yr green card case now?," I thought. After all, that case was approved 3 years ago....It doesn't make sense....

Are they checking up on my file in preparation for the interview, and seeing if I qualify for citizenship?

What's odd too, is that it said on the online system it says that my case was approved on November 21, according to CRIS...

(which was the same message it was about three years ago, right after I got my green card)

But the "RESIDENCE SINCE" date on my green card says...November 14....(approved at green card interview)

And my citizenship interview is on November 18....

So will they go by the residence since date or the online date, and will it make a difference?

Did this happen to anyone else too?

What do you think? Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc. greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ant,

I think they are making final preps for your interview, making sure everything up to date and missed nothing.

Keep in mind that they have touched all 4 cases in my portfolio prior to my FP.

i believe each office handles their cases different way.

Dont worry about anything you will be just fine. Good luck and keep us updated.

hi guys,

did any of you look into the option of going to the orlando or tampa offices for fingerprinting?. They are the only offices open on saturday, which is a really good option if you cannot leave your job like myself on weekdays. (I take care of mission critical databases for the State of Florida).

as soon as I get my fingerprint notice I will try for one of the above and update on the same. Best Regards to all...........

If you are marriage-based, this is probably the Yellow Letter people have been talking about. It is the document check list. For marriage-based cases, the tax returns will be on the check list. You should be expecting the interview letter soon.
