Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your greetings and well wishes. Lol...at this point, I need all the luck I can get from all of you on vj....

5 more days to the interview for me...feeling very nervous already. I've studied, studied, and studied, on the internet, with the audio cd, with my homemade index/cue cards, with the booklet, with my husband asking me questions. I've packed all my extra evidence (100+ pages) in the folder....and yet I still don't feel prepared.

My brain gets blank too, especially under stress. Also I don't do well with verbal tests, as I tend to stutter and/or mumble my words, despite having a full comprehension of the English language...(no problem if it was written though..I could write an essay easily..lol...)...Oh boy....

Oh and added to the fact that I'm bringing my baby along (and hope he doesn't make too much of a fuss there), I'm severely lacking in sleep (I only get 3-4 hours of sleep a night, as I have to wake up and feed the baby), I have to hope that it doesn't snow heavily on the day (we get a lot of snowstorms here in NYS) that I have the interview and hope tha we don't get into some sort of accident on long distance drive to our 'local' office....

 I"M STRESSED!!!!

Either way, will give you all an update as to what happens to me next week on my interview (Nov. 18)

Let's just hope I make it out of the interview alive...

Stay tuned for more details and updates on vj next week!

Good luck with the rest of your immigration journeys too!

Hey everyone,

I think I may be overstressing but I have a few questions about the Questions to the test....

Number:

#11. What is the economic system in the United States? is the answer Capitalist or Market economy. when I read the paragraph it says the US is a capialist economy.. but the paragraph also talks about a market economy.

#14. what stops one branch of government from becoming too powerful? is the answer both checks and balances and separation of powers... are u guys picking one or both?

#85. What did Martin Luther King.Jr do?.. fought for civil rights and worked for equality for all americans... both answers are pretty similar.. once again are you guys memorizing both answers or just one if they ask you that question.

Capitalist economy IS a Market economy or a market based economy.

Checks and balances or Separation of powers, both mean the same thing.

Likewise, civil rights or equality for all men mean the same thing.

All this is just like saying country or nation, web address or url, gasoline or petrol, me or i. All mean the same thing. you are expected to know any one of them e.g Martin Luther King fought for civil rights or Martin Luther King fought for equality for all Americans, both statements mean the same thing.

Hope this helps.

Hi Linaj,

Ok..this is how I would answer those questions, as this is the first answer that comes to my mind (and might not necesarily be "by the book")...

11) Capitalism....

14) Checks and balances....

85) Started the civil rights movement, for equality to all, especially between blacks and whites

(Bonus: and also wrote the "I have a dream" speech that outlined this...)

When they ask for one answer, they usually only want one answer

And if given the choice between two answers that pretty much mean the same thing (synonyms), pick the one that you most remember.

But remember the other one as a back-up, just in case...

Lol..Or better yet, come up with your own synonym...

After all, who remembers "word by word" what the answers are, as we're not robots after all!...

As long as they get gist of your answer, you should be ok there...

Hope this helps (and doesn't confuse you even further..lol...).

The bottom line: Know the meaning behind the answer, and remember to the best of your ability the answer that they mentioned in the study materials, but don't have to take things "word-by word".

Good luck with your studying too.

Ant

gasoline

I

martin luther king fought for civil rights

and....words spelt with -our, -re, grey, and the metric system...lol..

 ....and it all means the same thing! (sorry..don't mean to confuse you here linaj...just trying to find the humour in all of this...)

On that similar note: John G Roberts is the same as John Roberts, and Obama is the same as Barrack Obama....

Happy studying!

LOL.. thank you soo much Ant and Onuche... I kinda of figured it all meant to same thing!... I'm just soo nervous about getting it right that I'm over thinking things!...but on that note.. I have one more question... hehe

WHat about the question about the " what is the rule of law"? I memorized all 4 answers as the answer..

Everyone must follow the law

leaders must obey the law

government must obey the law

No one is above the law

Did anyone just memorize one???... because it seems like in this question.. all four answers apply!

Linaj,

Hahahahahahaha,

Again no, u don't need to know all, e.g if you take the first answer, it pretty much covers everyone doesn't it? lol

leaders must obey the law (leaders are part of "everyone")

government must obey the law (people in government are part of "everyone")

No one is above the law (which basically means everyone)

See my point?

I have never heard of someone doing walk in fingerprints in Jacksonville. I have been there a couple times and the security people is really mean and they will not let you in if you do not have a letter, they will not let you in, even more than 30 minutes before your appoinment time. I was told to retuned to my car and come back 15 minutes prior my appoinment time a couple times before. Since I lived 4 hours from jacksonville I did not want to take my chances and being turn back at the door by security, by if you live close by, and wont hurt you to spend a hour there, you could try to do walk in. You have to bring your appoinment letter, ID, green card, and passport. Just in case!!!!! It is better be safe than sorry!!!!!! I hope that helps, Sometimes if you have a valid reason and you could try to do walk in, please tell me about your experience.

Walkin FP @ jacksonvill, florida, Please advise

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi,

I received aFP notice. for jacksonville , florida, i would like to know

1. Does Jacksonville , florida service center entertain walk-in FP's ?

2. Any recommendations for time-of-day and day-of-week favorable to walk-in's ?

3. Any good-to-have documents I should carry for the FP (other than what would be mentioned in the FP notice) ?

Thanks

Thanks Maryces21,

Actually I also have 2 hrs. drive one way to jacksonville, that is why I wanted to make sure it they accept walkins.

so now i have decided to go on the appointment date.

Thanks for the reply , it made my decision easier.
