Hi Everyone,

Vivekjay-Congrats on getting your interview letter! Wow, what a co-incidence too, that we both have our inverviews on the same day, and that we applied at the same time too (just a day apart). Lol..I guess both our files are 'piggybacking' off each other? And yes, the walk-ins for fingerprints certainly did help for the both of us. If you don't mind me asking, what time is your interview that day? Morning or afternoon? Maybe you'll get same day oath too, if it is in the morning and your local center does same day oaths? Good luck with the interview on Nov 18th and good luck with the studying!

TETE- Long time no see here. Thanks for this new update again. Congrats on getting your interview letter! Good luck with the interview on Nov 23rd and good luck with the studying!

Hi Ant,

Thanks. Yeah we do seem to coincide with the dates so far. My Interview is in the afternoon. San Jose does not have same day oath. So that is out of question. Plus I applied 90 days before my 5 year anniversary of my permanent residency. My 5th year anniversary falls on December 9th. So I dont think they can administer my oath before that date. Is there anybody else in this situation?

Got the "case transferred to your local office for interview" e-mail early this morning. Typically how long to get the interview letter after that?

Looks like the FBI works really fast (f-prints taken on the 16th and the whole process of data transfer from ASC to FBI to background check to data transfer/approval to USCIS was done in two working days!!

Hi Everyone,

Vivekjay-Lol..we definitely coincide, indeed, though we're on opposite ends of the country! It's too bad that San Jose doesn't do same day oath for you, as if they did, you could get the interview and oath done at the same day and not worry about another trip there. Likewise, where I am in Buffalo, NY, they don't do same day oaths there either (lol...actually..now I wonder..how often are oaths in Buffalo?..not too often, I think...as there are not too many people in this area). It's too bad too, that by the time you have your oath, you wouldn't have met the residency requirements yet. I don't know exactly about that situation, but from what I've read from other vjers posts, because you haven't met this requirement, that even if you did pass your interview on Nov 18th, they can't make a decision regarding your oath on that day. So more likely than not, you'll pass the interview, only to be scheduled an oath after dec 9, and told about the exact date right after the interview, or told that you'll get a letter about that by a letter in the mail. Either way, it will be a slightly later wait for you until on or after dec 9, but I hope you won't have to wait too long after. And yes, do keep us updated here on vj as to what happens regarding your interview and oath.

Snj_immigrant-That's good to hear that you got the CRIS update about the interview. That's quick that you got notice of such only 2 days after fingerprints! Maybe they are on a roll now, quickly working on and processing interview dates....

In answer to your question, from my experience, this is my timeline regarding how long it takes to get the actual interview letter:

CRIS E-mail and Interview Notice Date: 2009-10-13

Received by USPS: 2009-10-17

Interview Date: 2009-11-18

So my guess is that you will get your interview letter this week in the mail. So be on the lookout for that! And yes, do keep us updated here on vj as to what happens regarding your interview and oath.
