YAY!!.. Our first applicant with an interview date. Thatt's GREAT Maryces!! I'm soo happy for you. So at least the running to the mailbox wait is over!!.. which I think is the worst part. I think once you have a date.. you can relax more and just prepare yourself for when the time comes.

Yes!!! I feel so relief. Now I can concentrate on other stuff like school, work, and family. Before I was feeling like crazy about immigration, and sometimes people that does not know anything about it, do not think is a big deal.

I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes even the people who do know about the process... still don't think it's a big deal. They dont understand how much the whole process takes an emontional, mental, and physical toll on the person.

Nobody would understand unless they go through the process themselves.... . But yeah take the time to relax and get your life some what back to normal... now that you have the interview date.

Good Luck and keep us updated on the studying..

I got a text from USCIS today at 1AM that there was a status change in my case. I logged in online to check the USCIS website. It said my case has been transfered to the local DO and they will schedule an interview. Looks like things are moving along. I think the walk in finger print helped to speed up the process. Maybe not since i still dont know my interview date. My original finger printing schedule was on the 20th of OCT. Did walk in on the 8th.

We had our fingerprint appointments at 2PM today at the Philadelphia ASC. We showed up there at 1:35PM with our two kids in tow. There were only about 2 people ahead of us. We were surprised to find that they even have a separate code for people with children (with "with child" written on our forms) such that one could stay at the waiting area while the other could go get fingerprints done first and the second would get fingerprints done immediately thereafter without waiting in line!!

People were nice and things moved pretty fast. We were done and out of there before 2PM!!

The front-desk person at the ASC actually mentioned that it was good that we showed up early for a Friday afternoon appointment, since the Friday afternoon and Saturday appointments tend to be very very crowded and typically lead to long wait times if you don't show up early.

...now the wait for the interview letter.....

Congrats on FP. I did not know that they were open on Saturday!

Hi Waiting 2008,

Saturday appointments struck me as odd too, so I asked a staff member about it and she said that although Saturday appointments were available routinely for the last 5 yrs. that they are going to be discontinued (in San Francisco) after two more Saturdays. Guess we got in just in time. Nice not to have to miss work to make the appointment. I don't know if Saturday appointments are specific to San Francisco or if they are available nationwide.

Hi Everyone,

Wow, it looks like there are updates and changes to the September 2009 N-400 list! Here are my replies to you all (or most of you):

Maryces21-Congrats on getting your interview letter! Lol..looks like the first on the list gets the interview letter first! Good luck with the interview on Nov 24th and good luck with the studying! Don't worry, you'll be prepared when the time comes in November soon.

I got news, Today I received my interview letter and says my Interview is on November 24/2009. They also send me a check list with all the documents I need to bring with me. They are the same that we supossed to submit with the application. Ok I have been reading and memorizing all the questions. I feel ready for my interview, even if it is tomorrow. I guess I will have to wait until November.

Vivekjay-Hope that the CRIS status change for you is the interview letter and hope you get that soon in the mail too. And yes, I bet you that early walk-in biometrics/fingerprints did help speed the process for you, as you got an interview notice sent, before your previously scheduled fingerprints

appointment date. Keep us updated as to when you get that letter and when your interview date is too.

Radu33-Welcome to the September 2009 N-400 filers list! Thanks for adding your name and info here. And yes, do keep up the updates here! Let's all track our progress together!

Adding myself to the list:

Onuche-Hope you hear something back from the USCIS about your fingerprints, since it's been awhile. Who knows, maybe this means you don't have to do them again. And yes, do keep us updated as to what happens with that too.

Hey,

Congrats to the new guys in the group and to those who are begining to get thier interview dates. Am still waiting till the 22nd before i call them again.

Saddle Bronc- (By the way, wern't you the one on VJ that said that you were Canadian too, with the former VJ ID as CherryXS?). Welcome to the September 2009 N-400 filers list! Thanks for adding your wife's name and info here. And yes, do keep up the updates here! Let's all track our progress together! Good luck with the interview on Nov 16th and good luck with the studying!

Adding Pras to the list:

Snj_immigrant-Congrats about getting your fingerprints/biometrics done recently and thanks for sharing that experience here! Glad that you had no problems there, and got it done quickly. Lol..interesting too, that they had that "with child" line. I wonder what that means exactly? Does it mean that someone who has a child that is also getting their fingerprints done too? Funny, I was with child (though they didn't need their prints done) at my fingerprints appointment..but didn't see such a sign there...guess it must be a Philly thing? And how come on your timeline says you did your prints in Philly, but have your local office in NJ? Hope you get your interview letter soon too and keep us updated as to when you get that letter and when your interview date is too.

Sherose-Congrats about getting your fingerprints/biometrics done recently and thanks for sharing that experience here! Glad that you had no problems there, and got it done quickly. Good too that you got the booklet and cd, as that is helpful to study for the test. Lol..interesting too, that you had biometrics/fingerprints on a Saturday. Only in San Francisico, I suppose (I don't think they do that here where I am in Buffalo, NY)? Hope you get your interview letter soon too and keep us updated as to when you get that letter and when your interview date is too.

Hi Everyone,

Just to update and let all you VJers know that....

The USCIS sent me a Canadian/American Thanksgiving present!...

Recently (on 10/17/09), it was a snowy afternoon (it was the first snowfall of the year too), and I had just returned from Buffalo, NY, as I had dropped my Canadian relatives back to the bus terminal there, since they came over here for a visit recently this week to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving on Oct 12-17 with me and my family (I couldn't go back to Canada this year with my son being so young and while my N-400 was processing). Being somewhat tired from the trip, we wanted to get back home as quick as possible (especially since the baby was crying in the backseat, wanting to be fed). However, before I got home, we quickly drove by our mailbox (which is literally a mile away), and.....

I found an envelope from the USCIS in blue lettering, (postmarked 10/13/09) from Missouri, opened the envelope in the car,

And I read the letter as follows:

Yippee! I got my N-400 interview letter and interview date!....

I was surprised too, at how quickly the interview will be coming up soon, in a month later..wow! It looks like the USCIS is speeding things up!

And yes, perhaps that walk-in fingerprints that I had earlier helped pushed things faster too...hmmm.....

Lol...it looks like I have to get cracking at the books and studying the history and civics test.....Oh my!...Back to the books..:reading:

And I hope too, that I'll make it to Buffalo, NY for the interview without any problems, snowstorms, or whatever else....

Funny too, how the interview date of Nov 18 is close to the American Thanksgiving date of Nov 26.

Yup, the USCIS has made my Canadian and American Thanksgivings more reason to celebrate, indeed...:)

Now if only they can make it even happier, for me passing the interview and getting an oath date soon after that.

Will keep you all updated as to what happens next....meanwhile...back to studying and celebrating! Turkey, stuffed with USCIS letters anyone?

Good luck with the rest of your journeys too.

Ant

P.S. I also just checked my online CRIS and E-mail updates, which also said and confirmed the interview letter with the following:

Online CRIS (Last Updated 10/13/2009):

Testing and Interview

Your case has been transferred to a local office and an interview will be scheduled. You will be sent a notice advising you of the date and time of your interview. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

If your case status indicates that you are currently in this step, you have either been scheduled for an interview or are in line to be scheduled for an interview. The amount of time your application will remain in this step will vary by office and is largely determined by the number of cases ahead of yours. The interview notice will have specifics about time, location and anything you will need to bring to your interview. If your application remains pending beyond our normal processing times (as shown below) please contact our national customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Please note that not every application/applicant will require an interview. In some instances, an interview is required by regulation and others an interview is requested because USCIS has determined that this is the most efficient means to determine eligibility. For a naturalization application the interview will include your taking the required English and/or Civics tests (unless exempt or waived).
