onuche:

what about you? Have you hear anything from USCIS?

Nope, called and i was informed (speculative) that it could be interview straight since i had my fingerprints taken 10 months ago. She basically couldn't do much cos its been less than 30 days. Waiting to call to confirm that on the 21st or 22nd if i don't hear anything before then.

Lately though, as i said in one of my earlier post, i know 3 people personally who didn't do biometrics for their N400 all in Houston so am not worried.

Hey Everyone,

I thought I'd join the party by adding my dates below.

One question to you all: did your case status change when you received your biometrics notice? My status indicates Request For Evidence, but the only request I received so far is the biometrics notice (status became RFE one day before the biometrics notice date). Anyone experience the same thing, or know what this might be about? Thanks in advance, and good luck (speed) to all!

I filed my application back in January. The first time they did my fingerprints, those were rejected by FBI as "unclassifiable". I had my fingerprints done again this month, and I am hoping my experience from now on would be similar to this group. Hence adding myself to the timeline.

Yes everybody seems to be geting a RFE before the fingerprints, almost everybody here got that. If you need more info you can see Ant+A post about her experience. After that probably en 2 weeks or more your status will change to Interview.

Hi HowGee,

Welcome to the September 2009 N-400 Applicants list! Thanks for posting your timeline and info here too! ...

In answer to your question, and as told in-person by an immigration officer to me, when I inquired about the exact same thiing:

Question: I received a Case Status Information Update/RFE, by e-mail, dated September 22, 2009, with the following message: “we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information…the case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail.” I have not received such a notice by mail, as of today, and would like to know if and when I will receive such a notice. I also have already submitted 100+ pages of additional relevant joint evidence with my initial application, and find it quite puzzling that the USCIS would require more evidence for my case. I would also like to know what is requested of me additionally, which I will gladly provide it to you if required and I have such evidence requested, so that my case can be further processed and not delayed.

Answer: "Your RFE e-mail is your fingerprints/biometrics letter. The additional evidence we request is your fingerprints to be processed and checked out by the FBI. Did you get your fingerprints letter (I said yes, and showed her the letter)? And no, you won’t be getting any additional letters for an RFE as the date of your fingerprints/biometrics letter is the same date as your RFE e-mail (which it is, as both are receipt dated September 23)."

For more information about my infopass/walk-in fingerprints experience on 9/30/09, you can read more about it here:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;#entry3371164

My online case status still stays the same (last touch 09/23/2009), even though I already did my fingerprints/biometrics (walk-in on 09/30/2009).....

Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for more updates from the USCIS....

Hope this helps. Good luck on the rest of your immigration journey too.

Ant

Hi Yorker123,

Welcome to the September 2009 N-400 Applicants list! Thanks for posting your timeline and info here too! ...

And yes, you are welcomed to post here on the September list, as your currently timeline is more closely related to our application timelines here in September. Alternatively, you can also post on the October list, if later on down the road your timeline more resembles those applicants there. But by the looks of it, I think you'll probably be staying here in the September list, as your fingerprints date and onward dates is closer to our timeline....:)

Sorry to hear about your delay in your citizenship case, because of your fingerprints, If you don't mind me asking: Why did you take so long to inquire about such? Or was it on their end that they didn't get back to you for such a long time? An 8 month delay seems awfully long to wait to re-do fingerprints. Did they give you further explaination as to why your fingerprints were not able to process propely? I hope that when you get your fingerprints done again, that they don't give you any further problems and/or delays! And if you have any further delays, definitely get a senator/congressperson/ombudsman invovled too!

Good luck on the rest of your immigration journey too. Here's hoping for a speedy and problem-free case for you too.

Ant

Hi Keepfaith,

Sorry to hear tha tyou couldn't do a walk-in fingerprints before your scheduled Oct 7th date. To tell you the truth, walk-ins are "hit or miss, 50/50" as to whether or not a local office would do a walk-in or not. Well, at least you tried, and that's good there...not your fault that the immigration officer got mad at you that day...That's a bunch of baloney that they said that they don't do walk-ins! Others have gotten walk-ins before, without any problems. So of course the USCIS does walk-ins, under the right circumstances, and depending on their mood, and how busy the office is.....

Maybe it was because the office was busy that they didn't let you do such? Did you do the walk-in close to your original scheduled date, as maybe if it was too close to then, they thought it would be better that you waited? Did you eventually get your fingerprints done on your schuedled date? And when you went, did you pick up the cd and booklet too?

Ant

did FP on Oct 7. tried to do walk in before oct 7th as i was supposed to work on that day. but now luck infact she got angry, refused and said it cant be done before the due date. on oct 7 th, she said sorry but again told that USCIS is strict on not doing any FP before the due date these days.

Hi Onuche,

Good that you called them up to inquire further about your case, after not receiving your fingerprints letter. And yes, it would be good if you got to do the interview, without having to take the fingerprints again. On that note, if you don't get your fingerprints done again, is there any way you could ask for a refund? It doesn't seem fair that they should just take your extra $80 in fees and not do anything. (lol...wishful thinking about the refunds...). If you don't hear from them after the 30 day mark, then you should call them again, just in case, to confirm this as fact, as you don't want to have an appointment scheduled, and miss it, just because you didn't get the letter..

Ant

P.S. To Everyone-Just out of curiousity, does anyone know how long fingerprints last in the USCIS databases? Doesn't seem fair to have to pay and then to have to re-do them if they are still valid...

Nope, called and i was informed (speculative) that it could be interview straight since i had my fingerprints taken 10 months ago. She basically couldn't do much cos its been less than 30 days. Waiting to call to confirm that on the 21st or 22nd if i don't hear anything before then.

Lately though, as i said in one of my earlier post, i know 3 people personally who didn't do biometrics for their N400 all in Houston so am not worried.

i asked the FP lady last time when i went there for FP (i-751) she told that fp remains in database for 1 year. so it seems that (uscis) to make more money they are doing it again for n-400 for people with past i-751 (within last year). I think we should do some thing about it and may be raise it through our congressmen/senators. it is waste of our money, time and violation of the rule.

Hi Keepfaith,

Good to know that the FPs are valid for 1 year and thanks for asking about that Keepfaith. I agree, it doesn't seem fair that we should pay for such again, especially if they are valid, it is a violation against the rule, and is a waste of our time and money. Lol..for me, the cost to get such done is more like $150 or so...given the $80 fee, the gas needed to get there (it's long distance for me), and the time wasted in going there....What a waste, indeed! Why can't we just get it done for free locally at the police station or something like that? Or heck, not do them at all, since they are still "valid". Definitely worth complaining about! I admit, I have thought about not paying the biometrics fee in my application, and would have complaint about it (I knew that my prints were still valid from my I-751..but wasn't sure exactly for how long), and along with complaining about how expensive the application fees are already for all the immigration processes. I did though, complain to my congressman during the I-751 about the delays and costs and incompentency there...so who knows if that helped our not...

However, this time around, I'm in somewhat of a hurry to have US Citizenship, so if I would have done that, that would have delayed my case even further and cause extra problems, which I don't want that to happen. Maybe I can complain again after US Citizenship, especially if I encounter problems here (I hope not).

But for those of you who are not in a hurry...yes, do complain! And yes, maybe get a congressman and/or senator involved too. Seriously, we don't deserve to be taken advantage of like this by the USCIS! I'm sure if enough people complain, something can be done, right?

Ant,

If the system was efficient do you think they would call it government? I have come to realise that government is the same everywhere, bureaucratic bottlenecks is the order of the day. Whoever knows of any efficient government anywhere in the world should let me know and i would show you Utopia!!!!!.

Lol...one day pigs will fly....in the meantime, let's move onto a USCIS-free Utopia! VJ Utopia anyone?

I got news, Today I received my interview letter and says my Interview is on November 24/2009. They also send me a check list with all the documents I need to bring with me. They are the same that we supossed to submit with the application. Ok I have been reading and memorizing all the questions. I feel ready for my interview, even if it is tomorrow. I guess I will have to wait until November.

Updated myself.
