As I am sure many are already aware, you can also download the study materials from the USCIS website. Included are the questions in .mp3 format as well as the .pdf versions of the civics test along with vocabulary lists for the reading/writing tests.

Hey everyone,

I've been studying the book and I'm freaking out a little bit about the test.

I know that this may sound like a dumb question but....I'm going crazy!

I have a question?? For the question's in the book that say name two of whatever their asking you for... do you have to only memorize two of the answers from the list of anwsers for that question.

Hi Linaj,

Likewise, I'm freaking out a bit too...Especially since that the civics part of the test is a verbal/oral test, which I admit, is not my best way of being tested with (I prefer written/writing tests, as for me it "goes in one ear, and goes out the other ear"..).

Don't worry, we'll all help each other study...so hopefully that will make it easier for all of us...:)

No questions are dumb...So in answer to your question, if I were you, this is what I would do (and this is what I would do myself too):

-More likely than not, when they ask for two things, they only want two things. Lol..Knowing the USCIS, they are very simple minded and straight-forward like that...two means two...they will only take the first two answers you give them...lol...

However, to be on the safe side, I would memorize/know all of the answers, just in case. That way you have more chances of getting it right and not forgetting what was all of the available answers on the list. Besides, you've memorized two answers already, so what's the harm in learning a few more? So memorize as many as you can from the list, that way you can't be wrong either way, as if you can't remember one answer right away, you can remember another answer, when quickly asked for such...Do you know what I mean there?

Hope this helps. Good luck studying too.

Yes if they ask for 2 they want just 2.

So for the question name 3 of the original 13 colonies I have memorized North & South Carolina and New York that is all they require. If the question asks for more than one answer pick those which are easy to remember. In the example North and South or two States with almost the same name and New York begins with an N so it ties it to North as well as being somewhere well know to help me remember.

Don't get too intense about this remember there is plenty of leeway if you get an answer or two wrong.

What to expect at the POE - WIKI entry

Hi Everyone,

Linaj-Oh yeah, I (and I'm sure everyone else) can understand about the "brain fart" thing when taking a test...Don't worry, despite that, I'm sure you'll do well on your test. Just know as much of the material as you can beforehand, and you should be ok there. As well, use as many memory tricks/tips as you can to help you remember too.

And yes, we're all studying together, so at least you know you're not alone there...;)

Thank you all for the quick responses. I will definitely try to remeber as many answers as a I can to the questions just in case I get nervous and have a so called "brain fat" when taking the test.

Maryces21-Hmmm..maybe them touching your file so often is a good thing. At least it shows that they are doing something, right? Perhaps the last touch was a touch that they sent the letter, and that it's on its way to you. Meanwhile, keep on checking the mail! Lol..understandable too, about driving your spouse crazy, as likewise, I do with my husband too...Oh, and add to the fact that he's the one that has to drive the extra mile (literally) to pick up the mail...oh yeah...we all get crazy around here waiting for those letter.... Hope you get your letter soon, regardless!
