Hi there VJ'ers!

I just have a question, and sorry if this is in the wrong section. I am Canadian, my boyfriend is American. We refuse to get married for immigration purposes, so instead of me moving down South, he will be moving upto Canada instead and I will be bringing him up as a conjual partner in about 2 years from now.

My question is..

Im currently pregnant with his child (were having a little girl! ) and when I begin maternity leave, whenever I get the baby's Canadian birth certificate I'm hoping to go visit him as much as I can (a week a month) to take advantage of Canada's great maternity leave (50 weeks).

I'm not legally divorced from my last marriage, I have only been legally seperated for two years and this divorce is being very drawn out since my ex-husband doesnt want to agree on anything that needs to be agreed on before a divorce is granted in Canada, so everythings being delt thru the courts.

Is this going to pose a problem when my boyfriend goes to the US consulate in Toronto to do a Report of Birth Abroad - the fact that Im not divorced?

Im super nervous each time I cross thru customs, as sometimes they give me a hard time since I live with my parents. And on top of that when I cross with the baby after she's born - I have a feeling I'm going to get hounded a bit more, since all I have as ties to Canada is my employment (which I'll be on mat leave by then). , and my children from my previous marriage. Has anyone had the experience of ever crossing over to visit their loved ones in this situation?
