I already have a SSN, do I have to change it after married?

Hey! I have a doubt related to my SSN... I've been in the US twice with a J-1 visa (doing a program called work and travel) and I already have a SSN, after I get married should I change it? when I fill all the forms should I write my SSN or wait until I have a new one?

this is confusing, I'd appreciate a lil bit of help here lol

Your SSN is still the same and you use that on the forms.

I am here with a J-1 visa, too and was in NY in 2003 with a J-1. My SSN from 2003 was still valid when I came last year and it does not need any updates. You can change your name to your married name after the wedding at the social security office, but the number remains the same.

Yes, change your name, other than that the SSN is yours for life. Also once you have your GC you should have any annotations removed. Such as 'not valid without DHS authorization"
