High Blood Pressure - should I be worried?

I just had my medical today and it seemed like everything went OK of course I dont have the results for the blood an test and X-ray, but Im sure theyre fine. One thing, doc said my blood pressure was a bit high. I am 25, health active male - I was just a bit nervous today. Will the high blood pressure come back to haunt me at the interview? Should I be concerned?

Thanks!

Shouldn't matter, but High BP could be an indicator for underlying conditions.

I would get it checked out. (how high did they say?)

(moved from K-1 process to Embassy - more related to topic)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

He didn't say. He didn't make a big deal of it either. But I know it's up to the consulate to make the decision.

Ah - if he didn't make a big issue, no worries.

(but i would keep an eye on it... like a plugged hose, when it blows, oh oh....)

You should be very concerned that you have high blood pressure at age 25. I doubt it will affect your medical exam results, they are more concerned with communicable diseases, but it is something you need to get checked out to be sure it was just your being nervous.

Unless the medical doctor told you he wasn't going to pass you, I wouldn't worry about it. For UKers with high BP, they actually tell you to get it checked out and get a note from your GP before they pass on your medical approval (happened to Nik). So, it must not have been that high - but you should take the opportunity to be proactive separate from the visa process.

For others: If you have high blood pressure (or other conditions), you should bring a letter from your doctor to the medical - for things like this, they just want to be sure that it isn't undiagnosed, but that you're taking care of it.

K-1:

January 28, 2009: NOA1

June 4, 2009: Interview - APPROVED!!!

October 11, 2009: Wedding

AOS:

December 23, 2009: NOA1!

January 22, 2010: Bogus RFE corrected through congressional inquiry "EAD waiting on biometrics only" Read about it here.

March 15, 2010: AOS interview - RFE for I-693 vaccination supplement - CS signed part 6!

March 27, 2010: Green Card recieved

ROC:

March 1, 2012: Mailed ROC package

So if someone were to "fail" or be in the position to "fail" at the interview the doc at the medical would say something?

Not sure. Theyt usually (most countries) do not even worry about HBP. I have seen a few cases from UK usually where the person is issued the visa with a the styipulation that they get the HBP treated in the US within a certian time, usually 60 days and you include this with your AOS. There is no reaso to deny a visa due to HBP, it is not a public health risk.

Were you nervous at the medical? That may have attributed to the HBP - but a trip to your GP may not be a bad idea

Yes, if there were something in your medical that was of issue they would tell you about it either so you could get necessary treatment or you could address the problem. High - or just 'higher' blood pressure will not cause you to fail the medical exam. If the doctor were worried about it, he would have told you to see your own doctor and get treatment - actually not that bad of an idea for you to follow up with on your own.

I have a Class B medical condition that needs to be reported but it caused no issues at all at the medical nor with the immigration interview, nor anywhere through the process.

You should be fine, but it is still a good idea to see your own doctor and have the results rechecked and if necessary, to consider treatment. Hypertension is known as the silent killer. It is something that you want to be on top of for your own health reasons, not just for immigration.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

High Blood Pressure is not a reason the Consulate denies a Visa. So you don't need to worry in regadr to the Visa. But it is something that you personally need to address for YOUR health.

Better talk to your primary health care provider. When it comes to your health, do not rely to our opinion, or to what you've read online (google search or other search engine).

I don't think your HBP would interfere your interview.
