Adjustment of Status and EAD confusion

Hi guys,

I am trying to fully understand this entire Adjustment of Status process, but I am still confused. I mailed my husband's application to adjust status to a Chicago address, but we are getting our mails from Lee's Summit, MO. I don't know what our service center is. What is the Chicago place? What is the Lee's Summit place? Is the Lee's Summit office the same office as the National Benefits Center? If so, how come only the EAD is being processed there? Where did they send the I-485? Can someone please explain how this thing is sorted out?

How about our district office? Where exactly do I go if I want to check the status of my case on USCIS website?

I don't really know where to send any correspondence to in case something happens to our case. It's all very confusing.

Thank you guys!

GayouAndie,

The mail receiving station for the National Benefits Center, located in Lees Summit MO, is a lockbox facility in Chicago. The mail is opened in Chicago, applications are screened for completeness (nothing obviously missing), and then sent on to Lees Summit for processing.

I-765 will be processed to completion at the NBC. I-485 will receive some processing and then will be sent for completion to either the appropriate District Office for interview or to the California Service Center if it's felt that an interview may not be required.
