AOS interview reschedule requested

I just got my AOS interview letter two days ago for 9/29/09, but my wife is away from home.

She is already into her 35th week pregnancy and cannot board commerical aircraft per airlines' policy on their website. She is also advised not to by her OB doctor.

I have just sent off a letter to USCIS's local office where my interview will take place adn enclosed them a copy of my wife's med rec showing her EDD. I hope they will response to my request. Also, yesterday, I spoke with an USCIS rep from the 1-800 # and had a case opened for this issue. The lady gave me a case # (she refer to it as a cfm #) to track it if I were to go to an Info Pass to make inquires. Also, she said USCIS will send me somthing in a month.

I am not sure if this will work to reschedule. Anyone have any insights? If I don't hear from them by my appt date, I plan on showing up at the office w/ my prove of sending a letter to them w/ that case # I got from the USCIS rep. On the letter, I only request to have appt scheduled few weeks later.

I wouldn't wait until the interview date and just show up like you're suggesting.

If it were me/us, I'd make an infopass appointment right away - bring your proof/evidence that your wife is or may be unable to attend due to her pregnancy and ask them (then and there) to request a new date.

Are the officers at INFO Pass able to make new appt? I will be flying to my wife for her remaining pregnancy weeks aross the coast, do you think the Info Pass must take place at the office where I will be interview at, or do their computer connects to the whole USICS thing?

I wouldn't trust what the peeps at the USCIS service number tell you. Make an Infopass appointment.

DEFINITELY best to make an infopass at the office the interview will occur and reschedule with them, do as much locally as you can, and this is one thing you can do locally

Hi,

A little update on my rescheduling...

Few days ago, I got a letter from my local office in NY (where the interview was supposed to take place). The letter has the confirmation # that the USCIS rep gave me over the phone when I originally called to open up a case. It states that they will notify me within 60 days of their decision as to what to do with my rescheduling.

Well, today is 9/29 and my apt is supposed to be today at 9:30am. As I am typing here, I have already missed my apt as the time is EST.

In the letter I wrote the local office, I told them that my wife will deliver her baby in begining of October and we are available at least mid to end October for interview. I am waiting to see if they will send me anther notice.

By the way, I went to an INFO pass appt in WA. They said normally to reschedule AOS interview is not complicated. They just need some proof stating it is an emergency or for some good reasons. They can put you in for the next available slot, but you must do this INFO PASS at the office that your interview will take place.

Since we were in WA and our interivew is in NY, so the officer help us send an internal e-mail to that office to tell them to follow up on our case. The officer stated in the letter that he saw my wife in person and her tummy is huge and about to pop, so evidence accepted. No medical record asked.

I will post more updates if I get more letters from USCIS. Of course, this is for anyone else in the same situation. If no one interested, it is fine. I will just share the exp when I see someone trying to reschedule too.
