Hello everyone I was approved at our K-1 interview on August 20,2009 in Manila this time the last time was in 2007 when our paperwork was sent back because of lack of evidence of a divorce.

My question is I took the seminar in Dec,2007 already and have the certificate do I have to do it again before i fly to America or is this one still good being it is only a seminar?

Hi there.

I attended the CFO Guidance and Couselling session last August 8. If I remember correctly, unless you are being petitioned by a different USC fiance, you don't have to attend the seminar anymore.

You may want to call CFO for clarification.

Hi...please ignore my previous post...let me qualify my answer:

I attended the CFO Guidance and Counselling session last August 8.

If I remember correctly, if you were petitioned previously and for whatever reason, the visa application did not push through, you don't have to attend the seminar anymore if you are being petitioned by the same USC fiance. If you have a new/different petitioner, then yes you have to attend the seminar again. They print the name of your fiance on the green and blue certificate.

You may want to call CFO, specifically PRISM or SMEF-COW for clarification.

Hi there.

You can get the number for SMEF-COW or PRISM on the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) website: www.cfo.gov.ph Just click on the section about Guidance and Counseling. The Contact Details of PRISM and SMEF-COW are on the left column.

Who issued your blue and green certificates before? They should have a record of your previous attendance.

Even if you are not required to attend the CFO seminar again, I would guess that you still need the CFO sticker on your visa, since you did not have a visa at the time you attended the CFO seminar.

I took the cfo seminar in DEC 2007 and the case was sent back to the USCIS for further investigation. We now have been approved at the interview in Manila on Aug 20,2009 and we was wondering since she already took the seminar in 2007 does she need to repeat it now?

As long as the petitioner/partner is the same, the validity of the certificate issued to her is lifetime. So, she doesn't need to attend agin the seminar. In case that her visa is not yet at thepassport during the time she attended the seminar, please go back to the place where she attended the seminar when she receive the visa, this is to put CFO sticker/stamp on her passport. Just bring the two certificates issued to her when she attended the seminar and the original passport with visa. In case the visa is IR1 or CR1, bring also the photocopy of Immigrant Data summaryt.

Yup that would be right. :)
