I love your wedding photos! All of you look absolutely stunning.

One day, I will visit India. It is the top of my list - so much so that the handsome husband sent me a total of 3 saris from when he was deployed in Iraq. I love them all. He knew (and still knows) just how much I want to go.

OUR JOURNEY SO FAR: (dd/mm/yyyy)

18/09/09 - CR1 NOA1

16/07/10 - POE LAX (256 days NOA1 to interview)

27/09/10 - Aussie/American bun in the oven due May 10, 2011

06/01/11 - Submitted change of address online to USCIS. Mailed I-865 for sponsor. Neverending!

05/05/11 - Bouncing baby boy arrives

10/07/12 - Sent I-751

13/07/12 - I-751 NOA1

wake up people, average time is 90 days, if you are lucky enough you are faster. If you keep your expectations low then you will not be panicky and look up your status every time, and you will just be a blast when the approval is faster than expected. It is o.k to have a positive spirit and expect NOA2 everyday also but it did some things to my head that I have decided to face the reality of 3 - 4 months approval or even 5 months. I don't think it matters what I believe in terms of the approval date I think what will be will be. With that being said, i can put my mind to rest, be pessimist and expect 4 months approval then be happy when it is faster than that. That is my way of psyching myself into the happy mood.

For all you believers in 1 month, 2 months and less, keep the faith :energy:

Friends i have this question in my mind. please correct me if im wrong.

citizen by birth filing for petition cr1/ir1 or 129F or whatever.

petition goes to the service center and then depends when its processed. 1 month 2 months or whatever,

NOW when naturalized citizen files for petition, his application reaches the service center.

they would enter that into system and order naturalized citizen's A file from storage ( missouri storage facility i think ) because when u become citizen your file is completed and sent out to storage

then your petition is set aside while they wait for your file to arrive. Now arrival of actual file also takes time, i dont know how long but i am sure since we are talking about uscis it takes quite some time. PLUS i dont think they will process your petition without your A file present. because its the file which started building up when you file for your green card and then so on. or previous petitions blah blah. your whole life is in the file.

when your A file arrives to requesting service center. your petition is merged into your A file and the gets in que to be processed.

i think naturalized citizen's petition may take longer.

So what really does happen during the period between NOA1 and NOA2? Background checks? Name checks? What do they look for? Employment history? Criminal records? I'm just trying to get a sense of why it's 3 weeks for some and 6 months for others.

@waiter, i did not know that they have to pull some naturalization files, how do u know all that #######? that sounds like forever to me.

As regards why it is 3 weeks for some and 6 months for others, I want to know the answer to that question too. Maybe some names just don't appeal to them to be processed faster or on time. I just think USCIS is a big liar when they say "all cases are treated in the order in which they are received", a lot of people that filed after us have been approved yet there still remained a sea of us that filed before them, and lots of people that filed before september somewhere in USCIS closet for unknown reason. Transparency will mean that everyone gets a correspondence of any form if truly their case is treated in order, like a letter saying we have touched your case this month but your name check is delaying you (maybe because the keyboards in the background check need to be redesign because the alphabets in your name are different from that of this world ), or we are still looking at your documents, or we are making decision about your evidence for now because we are no sure of them, anything besides just keeping quiet and torturing people mentally. The only thing that they are quick at doing is cashing your check, how fast it is for them to take money for a service in which they have not even deliver!

I am not raising my hope about them because they have sent me to bed several times with tears in my eyes. However, when they finally turn to my page and approve me to live my life normally and let my hubby join me I will give thanks to God who touched their heart.

you rock with that reality check! Anything short of that will be a miracle which will be greatly appreciated. The average length of the journey from my estimates of people with average processing time is approximately 5 to 8 months from I-130 filling to Visa: if there is no AP and all the other terrors

3-5 MONTHS I-130 approval ---- USCIS --- hell on earth!

3weeks - 5 weeks at NVC ----- the resting zone

1 month - 2 months interview date --- Embassy (depending on embassy)---- microwave oven --- 5 mins or hours decision about a person's life!

the very fast ones are usually in the US withing 4 months for the entire process, you are not one of those people if you have been waiting for the past 2 months, 4 months is not going to happen to you anymore, accept it people!!!

Because I was in the U.S. on a F1, we could've done AOS. I chose to do the CR1 because I wanted my husband (then fiance) to meet my parents, friends and family in India before we got hitched for real. Apart from that, another thing that tilted it in CR1's favor was that the USEM in Calcutta said it'd be a 3-4 month breezethrough. Laughable, now that I look back on it.

I really want to go visit him, but a B2 visa looks highly improbable. My F-1 is still valid. However, that's of no use anymore now that I've graduated.

i thought everything should be computerized now and should be all about checking on the computer with ease, plus a lot of USC's by birth also have extended wait time. I will not be surprised if naturalized citizen takes longer though if all the mentioned process is involved. it will only prove that cases are not processed as received because if they finish one before the other then everyone will have longer wait time without some being ahead of others with huge gaps like 2 months! It will make sense for them to work faster if they can process USC's faster than the rest that require additional step in processing, however they do not need to lie to us and let us feel that we have the same processing time, afterall the reason why they are putting us through the name checks and all other bullsh*t is because they want to keep us honest while they appear not to be. They can simply write on their website: processing time for USC by birth --- 2 months, Processing time for second category USC aka naturalized USC --- 5 months. Or better still by preferential treatment of beneficiary countries which at times appeared to be responsible for faster processing from my observation on this site. If such transparency exist, everyone will be happy by knowing their status and not expecting a phantom equality.

Friends i have this question in my mind. please correct me if im wrong.

it shouldn't be that long anymore maybe just 5 months to go and you will be together. Just pray that they do not create additional problems for u in the road like doubting your wedding and putting u in AP that is what can make you feel that AOS would have been the best
