I was just wondering what the process is before you have your medical.

Do I have to sign a release in advance for my GP to copy and send my medical notes to where ever I have my medical? If not, then how do they know for sure that I've not had a history of heart failure, drug abuse and chest pains? (not that I've had any of those! lol)?

or is it up to me just to obtain from my GP what vaccines I have/need and any medical history is done during the medical itself?

Cheers!

No you do not. They do not care about those things. This is NOT a medical exam for your benefit, of which our government could not possibly care less. This is a medical exam for MY benefit (and other USC's benefit) to make sure you do not have communicable diseases we wiped out years ago but are still common in countries with FREE government health care. Tuberculosis, for example.

They do not care if you have a heart problem and die in the airport when you arrive, it cannot affect anyone else, and in this country it is YOUR responsibility to pay for it. They do not care if you "had" a problem with drug abuse. They will do a drug test and ask you if you use illegal drugs. If you say "yes" or if their is illegal drugs in your system your visa will be denied.

You should bring a record of your vaccines to the medical exam so they can transcribe those onto the vaccination supplement and then you will not need the vaccines for the AOS (provided you have had all you need)

The question 'Do you use illegal drugs?" just seems a little pointless. I mean who in their right mind is going to even start down the Visa route if they use them regularly and intent to answer truthfully. It would be better to avoid that question and just test everyone.

Anyway, my main query was whether they'll have access to my medical records or if I'll have to make an appointment and get the vaccine records myself (which seems like the case)

Yes, providing your vaccination records at the medical will be to your assistance

medicals are part of the consulate process - moving thread to consulate forum

For a drug test don't you need hair for that, or does bloody do?

Best of Luck. Best wishes. Thank you.
