Your green card is irrelevant to Europe, so it depends on what the rules are for a Moroccan citizen travelling to whichever country you want to visit. I believe you will need a visa for most EU countries.

I don't think that's true... it depends what country your passport is from. I'm not sure about morocco, but i know that there are a list of countries whose nationals need visas and a list of countries that do not. A greencard though, does NOT act as a visa...in fact the purpose of a green card is only to allow you INTO the US. Whether or not you would need a visa to travel to a country in the US would depend on the country from which your passport is from, and that you would have to search on each specific country's website (the one you want to travel to) to see if your country would require a visa or not.

All EU countries (not Switzerland) do not require a visa if you have a green card. You need your green card and your moroccan passport (with at least 6 months validity).

That's not true.

This is a good site to look up whether you need a visa: http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations...rt_information/

Switzerland and EU countries require visas for Moroccan nationals with green cards.

You will have apply for a Swiss tourist visa at your nearest Swiss consulate.

Absolutely correct! Always check out through an official source whether you need a visa or not. Most airlines can link you to this information, or you can go directly to that country's embassy website to find out. We just went through this for my husband, we are planning to take my Mother and Daughter to Paris, hubby definitely needs a visa.

In 2006 we were told that a greencard, ie permanent resident, did not need a visa for a stay of less than 90 days in any Schengen countries. What was required was the greencard and valid passport. I looked it up for someone back then. The person was from MENA, but not Moroccan. I will look and see that website where I found it. Could be that they changed it since 2006.

There are some MENA countries that don't require visas, but Morocco is not one of them, and it's still not the green card that allows this, it's the passport itself.

are the chances of a guy from mena actually getting the visa improved, being a permanent resident of the us? because prior to moving to the us, it wasn't exactly easy for jordanians, moroccans, etc. to get tourist visas to france, germany, etc, right?

Hello, how are you ? I hope my insight can help you on something. The countries that you can show green card to enter in Europe, you just need your passport from your country and the green card is just SWITZERLAND. For the other countries in Europe, you need the schengen visa or the visa of the country you are traveling to. The thing is that I don't know what requirements are asked to Moroccon people to travel to Europe. I am pretty sure that you only can enter with the help of the green card without visa is just to SWITZERLAND, Canada, Mexico, Central America and the whole Caribbean Islands, the rest you need a Visa for enter to them; or unless you can become U.S. citizen and you don't need any visa for periods of less than 6 months as a tourist, for more time than that you need a visa even though if you have U.S. passport,. Thanks and bye,

@cheematah - From discussions I have had with embassy officials, yes it is easier to get tourist visas for Europe with a Green Card than if only applying from country or citizenship, especially if traveling with your USC spouse. The reason being your intentions to remain permenantly are very low, i.e. you already have residency in the US your reasons for wanting to permanantly stay in Europe are slim. We haven't done this yet, and probably won't be going to Europe for another year *after citizenship* but interesting to note.
