Got Interview At Tokyo Embassy

I'm very excited and happy My fiance called last night and told me she received her K1 packet and scheduled interview at the Tokyo Embassy. For those of you going thru Tokyo Japan ( I have seen several other VJ'ers going thru Tokyo) Please be advised that the Tokyo Embassy uses a different process to adjudicate/schedule interviews for NON Japanese citizens/Ja[panese nationals. My fiance is from the Philippines but is a Japanese legal resident. In our case as with others, Japan requires the visa appicant to submitt a certified birth certificate, DS230, 2 forms of picture I.D. to prove you are indeed the applicant before they send out start any processing of the fiance visa. You DO NOT get a "Packet 3 "or a "Packet 4 "

Once you have satisfied the Embassy they will start your processing, which means the security check (Name Check). The name check took 2 weeks for us. After which they send you a "K1 packet which is sort of a combination of Packet 3 & 4. You do not have to bring documents already submitted to the embassy to your interview.

A special note: Many thanks to VJ member akavlie. I was concerned that my case was not following the regular Packet 3, Packet 4 process and the unexpected additional time our case was taking. I read a post by akavlie where he contacted the embassy and requested an interview date and apparantly got one scheduled. I immediately called the embassy an told them I would be in Japan on July 24 and requested they schedule an interview for my fiance and me. I purposly set it out 3 weeks figuring on 2 + weeks for the security check. The embassy responded to my fiance that her interview is scheduled for July 24 and that they look forward to seeing me also !!!
