:bonk: Okay, I'm totally confused. On the packet 3 it says to send IN the documents they list, but then it also says to bring some of them with you. So which is it? Or do we send in the whole thing and then bring it with us too?

Ugh.

Then on the embassy page here on VJ under the "what forms to send back to consulate" part it only has DS-230, DS-160, and the checklist on there.

Yes, only part-I of DS-230, the OF-160 check list, and the shipping label for Packet 4. However, this is from my understanding for the consulate in Guangzhou, but should be the same for others. All other forms will be taken with you to the interview, and this includes the medical forms from Packet 4. From what I have read of other's interviews...it would be a good idea to take copies of everything and the required originals. If you have a divorce, it seems that some consulates are asking for a notarized letter of explanation. I think some of these things are to "trip up" people who are not completely prepared. Plan carefully.....and triple check everything.

It depends on the consulate, so it may not just be the DS-230 or the OF-160

We had to send in DS-230, DS 156, DS156K and DS 157. Didn't have 160... since our consulate doesn't have that online form yet. We didn't have a shipping label.. so must be something for that particular consulate I guess.

Our instructions weren't too clear on the DS-230.. One set said to only send part I, but another set said to send both. Send both just to be safe.. if they don't need Part II no harm done. We are also taking copies of EVERYTHING we have already sent..

soooo cool we have been getting lot of good news. Congrats to folks!!!! btw i have a question....i got the new case number from NVC....where do i ck its status???

There really is no place to check it's status. The only thing I have been able to use our case number for is to see if we have been scheduled an interview yet. The Ankara consulate lists them on their web site.. not sure if the others do.

Hi guys, haven't posted anything for the past day or 2 because I noticed that recent discussions (such as learning your fiance's language and forms w/ packet 3) doesn't apply to me. Atleast not yet.

Still hoping and crossing my fingers for a NOA2 asap but I've finally come to accept that 'nothing happens before it's time and everything happens for a reason.'

Keep enjoying your weekend; continuous luck on this difficult but well worth it journey and here's to a successful week starting monday.

i think it wants you to send in the 4 listed documents on the first page, with the checklist indicating you have everything on the checklist but the items that are ON the checklist do not go with this packet - you take it with you to the interview

So 156 160 and all those + checklist itself goes.. and the rest , like police certificate and support form etc you hold on to and take with you to the interview.

at least that was my understanding

It would be so much easier for all of us if each consulate did things the same way :) We had to send in everything ahead of time...

What get's me, is that I keep hearing from other people who went to the Ankara consulate that they were put in AP, at the interview, because a name check had to be done.. and it could take up to 6 months. They have the police report, and everything else now.. why don't they do the darn name checks before the interview? Who knows...

I am hoping we will know an interview date before Wednesday. They will be closed for Thanksgiving.. and then there is the Muslim Bayram holiday, so they will be closed until December.

Please.. please.... give us an interview date by Wednesday!!

Happy Monday everyone!

Hoping to hear about a few NOA2's today.. and an interview date of course.

The Ankara Embassy closes in about an hour, so guessing I won't hear anything today.. but VSC will just be starting their work day, so will still be looking for some good news... hoping for some news from CSC too.

I have to leave, for a business trip to Hong Kong, Wednesday morning ( poor me :) )... But I am really hoping to get that interview date before then.

Kayla.. maybe you could Fed-Ex some fingers and toes to Turkey??

Hi there, sorry not posted for a while its been sort of crazy but I have been monitoring the forums keeping up with everyones progress. I too am suffering with frustration with the lack of approvals out of CSC lately but unfortunately nothing we can do about that but wait.

One of the things I did want to share was that I decided to take a gamble and spend a few weeks with my fiance in the US, so I am happily writing this from what will be our house in not so sunny Ohio. I had been warned that I may face problems with immigration and that they may not even let me into the country but I entered the US in Chicago with no problems at all, just the standard entry questions of what are you doing here which I answered honestly and how long I was staying.

So I arrived last Thursday and most of the weekend has been spent shopping for furniture etc for our house (you know guys they have no taste so having to add the feminine co-ordinated touches, also its a chance for me to meet with some contractors to get some work underway which can be completed when I return to the UK early next month.

The one thing I would say was this visit was so needed, there is just so much time you can spend online together without some element of frustration or even boredom happening due to time differences, the demands of day to day life and just energy levels.

Anyway just wanted to add my experience and I guess its back to waiting for CSC to start cranking out those NOA's

I hope you have a great time and get a lot done! I lived in not so sunny Ohio for 15 years :) Just be thankful you don't have snow yet.. and if you don't like snow, I hope you will not be living in the "snow belt".

I have so many things to get for our house too, but decided to wait until he was here so that he could have some say in what's in the house. I want it to feel like he is in HIS house too.. and not just moving into mine. I think it's great that you have a chance to be able to do all that before you make the move!

Have a great time!

OHH!! Good luck with the interview tomorrow!!

Does anyone know the number for DOS? I know they can tell me if our packet # 3 was received by the consulate, and if an interview date has been assigned yet. I doubt a date has been assigned, or I think we would have heard, but I would really like to find out if the packet Fuat sent on the 18th has reached the consulate yet. I emailed the consulate, but go no answer.

I know the number for DOS was in one of the threads on VJ.. but now I can't find it.
