My son got this letter from his attorney today.

I want you and your fiancee to be prepared for a long processing time. We will do everything we can to minimize the wait, but typical processing is 8 - 12 months according to the U.S. Embassy. Its difficult to know for sure because of the security check process. They won't tell us where they are in the process or how much longer it may take because of national security concerns.

We will be by your side throughout the process, but it will take a lot longer until your fiancee will have her visa and be ready for travel.

I hope that he's wrong. My son and his fiancee are just devistated.

OH NEY!!!! I am so sorry to hear this. Why would it take so long? That is such sad news.. I hope they are wrong!!!!

Jenn call back and try another rep. I wouldn't put too much into it, I screw up dates all the time.

Yes, Jenn, you should call and try another rep.

By the way guys, I don't know if when you signec up @ VJ, if you signed up to recieve new topic postings. However, I did and I received an email about 2 couples whom their fiance got cold feet AFTER the NOA2 was received. So now, unfortunately they wanted to know how to cancel the petition. My heart truly goes out to them because I would go crazy if that happened to me.

I know, this is frigging sad. It makes you feel really grateful for what you have, even if it's not always a walk in the park.

Sorry to hear that Ney. But as the other members said, I hope they're wrong and that things will continue to run smoothly. But I'm confused, why would the lawyer say that, what makes he/she thinks so???

I don't know why he's saying it. His orginal estimate for the entire process was 6 to 8 months. Now he's saying 8 to 12 months from this point. We were hoping to have her here for spring intially so who knows. I just hope Kizza is right and they are just trying to keep our expectations low and things will move faster than forecasted. Oh well, what can we do?

Jenn call back and try another rep. I wouldn't put too much into it, I screw up dates all the time.

I'm more worried about the fact that I told her the BC date was wrong.... I should have just said "oops I meant December" and let them think I am an idiot

OH and it gets even better.. I called back.. and this time I screwed up MY date of birth.. and said 12/26 instead of 12/28.. I just can't believe it.

This woman was much more pleasant.. but told me we are currently in AP :(

Oh no, are you serious? I'm sooo sorry. Did she give you any details as to why?

There was another one with the same situation but the members of that thread were furious, stating that it's unfair that people have been waiting for their NOA2 and she gets hers, only to find out her fiance backed out.

I suppose I am getting ahead of myself, since I have not even had a chance to contact NVC to see if they got my package.. but I followed all the instructions on tracking DHL and I think I found mine.

It is the only thing in a day date range going to my consulate and weighs the same as the package I sent to USCIS.. but it says it's been shipped from Department of State in Portsmouth, NH..

Is this the same as NVC?

If this is mine, it should be delivered tomorrow..

Yeah that is where the NVC is located!!! I havent checked my NVC status either. gonna check the DHL to see if there was any going for Brazil.

Hi Luis and Alice

can we checked our status on NVC? how ? even though we havent yet a hard copy from them?

hmmm im little bit confuse buddy

Yeah you can check, just call them and have your USCIS number and both your full names and dates of birth. They will be able to get back to you with the information.

Tell them not to be. My attorney said I would not get my NOA2 till February next year. They always tell you the worst case scenario, to protect themselves from lawsuit. But one thing I learned about lawyers in this process... DONT TRUST THEM!!!

Oh ok, my apology. However, no NOA2's today?? I guess we have to wait until everyone gets home from work. Fortunately I have web access on my phone so I'm constantly on VJ and USCIS

looks like so far today, for my NOA1 date 9/24, there was 1 approval and 4 RFEs. I'm hoping maybe the approval was Kayla & Matthew! Here's the latest breakdown for my filing date of 9/24 at VSC:

55 129-Fs received NOA1 on 9/24 (VSC only). of those, currently:

24 Approved

14 RFE'd

17 still in initial review

Breakdown of action dates:

10/08: 1 Approval

10/15: 4 Approvals

10/16: 5 Approvals | 8 RFEs

10/19: 2 Approvals | 1 RFE

10/20: 0 Approvals | 1 RFE

10/21: 1 Approval

10/22: 4 Approvals

10/23: 6 Approvals

10/26: 1 Approval | 4 RFEs

Though we're not done with 10/26 yet...maybe more approvals are still to come!
