OK... so I called NVC and they received my package on 10/23 and said it was not sent to the consulate yet. So I guess the one showing on DHL, sent out on 9/24 and wieghing the same at my packet wasn't mine.

I have heard some people say NVC says they still have it, and it's actually at the consulate, but I have no idea how to check that.

AND.. I think I made a HUGE mistake.

Sort of difficult to explain.. Fuat was born on October 3, but his Birth Certificate was not registered until December 3.. so shows December 3 as his date of birth. We listed December 3 on all the papers, but when I called NVC I forgot and said the date of birth was October. They told me I had the wrong birth date and when I realized what I had done, and tried to explain, the person on the phone told me that if the date of birth is wrong I need to send a corrected copy of his birth certicate and ask to have it changed.

All records in Turkey show 12/3... He won't be able to get one with 10/3.. and now I am wondering if they have made a note of this in their file and it is really going to screw us up!!!!

I am panicking a little bit!

Try not to worry, if a copy of the birth certificate was with the application then they may just assume you gave the wrong birthday over the phone. His BC is his proof... and all the documents you said list the same date on the BC.

I did include a copy of his BC with our packet. The woman on the phone was like a cold fish and kept saying "that's the not date of birth Ma'am. I can't help you".. and then when I realized I was saying October instead of December, I tried to explain to her that he was born in October but that his birth was not registered until December and that was what his BC said .. and that I forgot, but she said I needed to get the BC corrected and send it to them to have it changed for the petition.

So I am wondering if they noted this in the file.. or put some note that Fiance doesn't know birth date or something. We can't get the BC changed.. he tried a long time ago...

I am trying not to worry... but it's more like panick!! We've had so many roadblocks in the past few years, and we got through all this so quickly... only to maybe have me screw it up by not remembering to give the December date!

I really hope it's not a big deal, but I am just sick to my stomache right now.

Maybe call again in a few days, see if they sent it off..and you could always just say oh I was saying October because we're in the month of october.. we all say the wrong date at some point for something.. Try not to be too hard on yourself, I am sure it will be fine.. especially since all legal records indicate his birthday in december.

My son got this letter from his attorney today.

I want you and your fiancee to be prepared for a long processing time. We will do everything we can to minimize the wait, but typical processing is 8 - 12 months according to the U.S. Embassy. Its difficult to know for sure because of the security check process. They won't tell us where they are in the process or how much longer it may take because of national security concerns.

We will be by your side throughout the process, but it will take a lot longer until your fiancee will have her visa and be ready for travel.

I hope that he's wrong. My son and his fiancee are just devistated.

Yes, Jenn, you should call and try another rep.

By the way guys, I don't know if when you signec up @ VJ, if you signed up to recieve new topic postings. However, I did and I received an email about 2 couples whom their fiance got cold feet AFTER the NOA2 was received. So now, unfortunately they wanted to know how to cancel the petition. My heart truly goes out to them because I would go crazy if that happened to me.

Jenn call back and try another rep. I wouldn't put too much into it, I screw up dates all the time.

I'm more worried about the fact that I told her the BC date was wrong.... I should have just said "oops I meant December" and let them think I am an idiot

OH and it gets even better.. I called back.. and this time I screwed up MY date of birth.. and said 12/26 instead of 12/28.. I just can't believe it.

This woman was much more pleasant.. but told me we are currently in AP :(
