Kayla I am happy for you!!.. Krystle.. I hope the second appointment brings good news..

I saw something about an AOS case being expedited but no one said who or how they did it.. I didn't really have a chance yet to search too much further :(

POE was pretty easy, I was nervous of course.. got my picture, fingersprints, and paid.. they gave me back my list of items I was taking ..and I don't know how much of a search he did, i think he just glanced.. they let me go through with my cat food bag too which was open, i was surprised.

So far.. it feels weird honestly.. almost like I'm on vacation but knowing I'm staying and my family will be leaving soon... base life is.. interesting... and I didn't have a great go at it today...

i dont know.. its great..but im surprised how different it feels.

In what seems like a previous life I was a wife of a military member. We lived overseas and stateside. I think that living overseas created a close knit group of people because NOBODY has any family. There is something called Enlisted Wives Club. It's a good way to meet other women who are in the same situation you are. If you can find something like that...I think it will help you. I did think that living stateside was a bit more difficult for meeting people. I actually turned to finding a job to make friends in the area. Stateside because everywhere you go there is going to be something familiar to the people living there you may find it a wee bit harder to kind of break into a circle of friends. You've only be there a 2 days though so make sure you give it PLENTY of time before thinking ####### lol. You may very well still think that but as time goes on you'll get used to showing your i.d. everytime you want to go somewhere. Having a spouse in the military wasn't as hard as I thought it would be and I really did grow to love the military life. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the answers girls. The romanian forum said that I need to file for AOS within the 90 days so it got me confused.

Ancica, good to hear that you will fly next week. I don't watch the news so I didn't know anything about the volcano until my mum told me on monday. It was crazy, so I really hope things are back to normal now.

Maggie, welcome in the USA! Keep us posted on base life.

Congratulations Kayla!

Well, it looks like I won't be having any wedding after all, so there goes my dream of being a bride... I didn't even care much about a wedding. I just wanted my mum to see her only daughter in a white dress. I knew it would make her happy...

What if you had a civil ceremony now just to get the legal aspect out of the way and then have a larger ceremony later with more friends and family & the white dress and all that? I know a lot of K-1s do it that way.

Or if it's feasible you could have a very small ceremony, still wear a white dress - that's how we did it. Very few guests, all in my parents' living room, I wore white (not a big long wedding dress, but just because that's not my style - I wore a shorter white dress - here's a link) It was lovely, just what we wanted and not expensive at all! We only bought a cake, a few bottles of champagne and some flowers that we did ourselves from Central Market (I don't know if those are nationwide - it's like a very upscale grocery store.) A ceremony like that is very easy to put together quickly :)

Well..my first day here I already had been questioned by PMO.. which would have caused trouble for both Kenyth and I ..but the PMO knew Kenyth and was very nice about it. I broke two rules the first morning here and I had to pull Kenyth out of work because PMO wanted to talk to him...

I don't know any of the rules.. so it makes it even harder. I am getting a course for Family Readiness..or something. It's for civilians living on base...getting to know the terms and rules. I guess it's hard to get use to and settle in right now because we won't get our house until after the wedding.

I don't think I'll mind it too much after I get settled and know the rules... but I guess it is mostly the thought of guns, ID checks, breaking rules I don't know exist..and the fact that Kenyth ends up getting chewed out for it if I do. I also have to be careful, because of the ranks..and what I do.. its just different.. but I do like it.. I think it just feels harder right now because I did just arrive, and on top of the emotions of leaving home and the stress of moving, visa, and wedding... it just makes a not perfect day seem so much worse.

Thanks for the information though, I am going to look up more for wives of the enlisted.. anything to help.

Thank ranks will come with time...to be honest unless Kenyth is with you...ranks shouldn't have any bearing on you whatsoever. You would be respectful to anyone...pfc or Lt Crnl. When they play the national anthem everyday...stop what you are doing and stand like you are doing the pledge...dont know the words just stand with your right hand over your heart...that will suffice lol. Make sure you always have your id with ya...you'll need it for just about everything. Make sure you know Kenyths ss# if you don't already that's also something that will be asked of you about 8 million times. You'll adjust quickly...because you'll have to lol

hey jenn, just wanted you to know we're sending good vibes your way today. please let us know how it goes with the oncologist.

yesterday was not a great day, my honey was really homesick and i felt helpless. :( i constantly worry that i won't be able to make him happy here, because it is so different and there's just me and he doesn't have all his many friends and family. i know we both just have to be patient and give each other as much love as we can. but some days are sad ones. i hope today is better.

Hi everyone, been very busy. My days since of lately is get up, go to work and then running MANY errands in time for the wedding. Yesterday was a sad day for us in the Jamaican forum, one of the girls passed away. She's from pennslyvania and was only 27, I feel horrible for her husband who's only been here 1 year, everyone tell your honey this story then turn around and hug them and say "things could've been worse" I can't imaginee how I would cope if G was to pass away :(

Maggie I hope you're adjusting fine, saturday is your wedding and I haven't heard you mention a word about it...

Jenn I hope everything went well (F)

Karen don't feel bad that you couldn't help him, instead do something for him that you know he likes, maybe that'll help. Hope you had a better day today.

hey guys,

man it's been quiet here on the board lately. i miss everyone so much!

Krystle - good luck with all your wedding prep! And so sorry to hear about your VJ friend. My day was better yesterday. I think it's just going to be up and down for a little while, but i'm praying everything will be okay...our wedding is in two weeks! How are things with you and G?

Kayla - good luck making room! how much stuff is he bringing?

Maggie - I'm sure you're running around doing wedding stuff but i just wanted to say good luck and i'll be thinking about you sunday!

We went and bought a dress on monday for the wedding. It's a little big but hopefully i can shrink it or get it tailored:
