So thaaaaaaaaaaaaat's what you girls call it

Lol, I heard 1 person with it and since then I just kept using

I realllllly hope Maggie's interview goes better than mine ended up. With the weather in Rio, SDU (which is right next to the consulate) is closed, and the consulate is closed as well and is expected to be closed the remainder of the week (as this terrible weather is expected to continue until then). L's flight into SDU was cancelled of course, but mine into GIG was just "delayed" and I was able to talk my airline into giving me an open ended rebooking due to the weather.

Goodluck

So far so good, but she is still in a daze with all of the traveling and the wedding planning. I had two sister-in-laws that came to America about 12 or 13 years ago and both of them told me on many occassions it takes around 2 years to really adjust to America and for the home sickness to subside. I have been warning her through this entire process that she will have horrid bouts of home sickness and want to give it all up and go home. I did this so she would be ready to experience all these feelings and would prepare herself to deal with them.

You really need to read some of the MENA posts and see different ways they have handled it. Keep Faut as busy as you can! Let him know that what he is feeling is normal and everyone that leaves thier family, hometown, and more so thier country experience it. Let him know that it will get better in time, and he is not alone in what he feels. If there is a group of Turkish people he can communicate with it may help. Be as supportive as possible no matter how hard it may seem at the time. Finds some stores near you where he can gain access to familar things. Last but not least continue to remind him how you feel about him and that you are there for him.

I'm sorry it is difficult but it is going to happen to some degree to each person that goes through this process.

We're here when ever you want to talk!!!

LOL, baby dust!!! rofl.gifrofl.gif Hey blow some down here, but please miss my daughter her youngest is 3 months. No worres about me I tied it up years ago rofl.gif Hit my son and daughter-in-law!!! devil.gif

I'll blow you some when my confirmation comes :star: I mean your son and daughter in law!

I agree with the advice that you gave Jenn. She needs to find some sort of social group/event that's organized for Turkish people... I hope it all work out for them both.

I just have to pop in to say I love your thread so much:)

I love reading your experiences and wish you all the very best for everything coming up.

Anwesha

Thank you :star: Join us sometimes, we have very good luck that we would like to share

jenn, i am so sorry things are rough right now. but everybody is right when they say we all have GOT to be patient, supportive, upbeat saints for a while. this is going to be super tough on our honeys. and absolutely we are all here for you and rooting for you! I know we're probably all going to have a bumpy road while we adjust to life together and especially while our loves adjust to life in the US. As Ney said - try to keep him busy. busy and productive is really good. And i think krystle gives good advice when she says to slow down. This is a lot for someone to go through. Make sure he gets lots of good sleep and eats well and feels really loved by you. you guys will get through this.

oh and on the facebook thing - did you perhaps give permissions to any applications recently on facebook? i think there are a couple dangerous ones that open you up to that kind of spamming. You may want to check that out.

on our end, we're doing well, it's only been a few days so the extreme homesickness hasn't kicked in yet. i'm super worried about when it does. i've tried to show him some of the wonderful things in our neighborhood, especially green spaces because I know that is something he will miss most. And he seems to be enjoying it. But there's nothing I can do to help with the missing of his kids and family, except encourage him to call them as much as he wants. They might get internet at home out there, so that would be awesome for jose luis (they could skype). We actually haven't gone into manhattan yet - just trying to take it easy. I think we will head out there next weekend. Also trying to feel out when he will be comfortable meeting friends. I don't want to overwhelm him. other than that, he's been amazing, cleaning some of my very dirty apartment spaces and cooking awesome dinners. I am so damn lucky to have him here with me. i try to keep that in mind every time i have to explain something for the third time and want to totally lose my patience! ;)

OMG, Karen yo just hit the spot!!!!

Since Glenoi has been here, I get so FRUSTRATED very easily from explaining/telling/showing the SAME THING over and over. I swear I feel as if he doesn't hear me when I speak because I'll say something and then a few minutes later he'll ask me the same thing again and the same thing again the next day. I started to feel horrible because I would show my frustration and then he'd say "it's because I'm not working" and then I get more upset because it has nothing to do with him not working.

Rant Over.

I just called dos again and was told that our visa hasn't been printed and that it's still in processing. I asked her how that could be since I was told last week and again yesterday that our visa had been printed, just not mailed. I'm so upset I could cry. I am crying, actually. How could they tell me one thing and then suddenly tell me another???

Still no visa, guys.

I'm thinking about contacting my congressman, but have no idea what to say when I do. I called again today and found out the girl yesterday didn't know what she was doing. It has been printed since the 24th, just not mailed.

YAY, MAGGIE!

BOO, KAYLA! I'm glad it's at least been printed, though!! THEY JUST NEED TO GET THAT PUPPY IN THE MAIL NOW!!!

In my own bit of happy news: Matt's on his way right now! He had ZERO problems at the border, and apparently, the border guard was very pleased to see that he only had 1 bag with him. Apparently, people have been trying to move before they are supposed to lately! Tsk tsk! He gave her the interview date letter and NOA2 and she wished us both luck on our interview and sent him on his way. He goes "That was the easiest border crossing into the States I've ever had!" Just a little over 8 hours and he'll be here! :D!!!
