WOW!! That's ashame. I had to do the same thing with SSA and when I went to apply for the marriage license. They have never heard of the K-1. The pastor that's marrying us wants a copy of the NOA2 because he doesn't believe the k-1 exists!! I went to DMV and they told us we didn't have 6 points but now I noticed the NOA2 is on there, going back monday and see what they say. Does your state DMV has the 6 point thingy as well?

I have no idea what the 6 points thingy is????

We had to show primary ID and proof of being allowed to be in the country ( that was the passport and visa). Also had to have secondary proof and the NOA2 ( whatever it is really called I797 or something like that) was on the list.. but I had to explain it to them, prove it was on the list, prove that an I129F existed etc. Also had to show proof of residence.. glad I had already added him to the lease and could show that.

.... :girlwerewolf2xn: .... <-- That is me right now. Literally. I want to scream and pull my hair out and disown part of my family. I've been in hysterics for most of the day over this, and need to rant somewhere where people might just understand what I'm going through (to a point.)

Okay, so, Matt and I asked my uncle to co-sponsor us. He says okay, and we take the paper work over. My aunt proceeds to have a conniption fit over the fact that they have to supply tax information. "I don't feel secure just letting people see my personal tax information." blah blah blah. I could understand if it was some random people or whatever, but it's the US government.... SERIOUSLY. I re-assured her that the only people that would be seeing it would be the US government, and obviously myself just so that I could make sure everything was there and properly filled out and such. She seemed to be okay with it, so I left them to it. This was about 2 or so weeks ago. I called my uncle today to find out how it's going since I'd like to have all the paperwork ready to go before I leave for Canada on the 18th. He proceeds to tell me that there were some issues with a set of taxes, and that they're trying to get it taken care of as quickly as possible. Then he drops the bomb: My aunt is still having problems giving up this tax information. She wants to know if we can just fax it to "the office" - meaning directly to the Consulate in Montreal. Um, no. Sorry. it doesn't work that way, and I told him so. "Well I don't care about what people see, but she doesn't feel comfortable with it at all." So I point out the little fact of who all would see it again, and that, um, hello, it's the US government, who pretty much has access to it anyways. "Well then why can't they just get it from there?" ... So now I'm trying my hardest not to burst into tears on the phone with him, and we finish talking (I fully believe him when he tells me that it's really not him that's causing the "hold up" because he doesn't care; in fact, he wants me to come over this weekend so we can talk about the wedding and he can see what else he can help with) and I hang up. My mother proceeds to practically disown her sister (there's a lot of behind the scenes ####### with this family, lol) and tells me that we're going to go over to my grandparent's place tomorrow and talk to them.

So here it is, 2 weeks before I'm leaving for Canada, and a month before our interview... and I pretty much have no co-sponsor.

Could things get any worse?

Yeah, it can, and it already has, but that's another completely unrelated story that can be dealt with in time.

I hope you all are having a better day month year life (lol) than I am. If you read all that, I thank you from my entire heart. :luv:

She is officially out of Iran!!! Last email I got was from Amsterdam!

We are central standard time. Iran is 9 1/2 hours ahead, Amsterdam 7 hours ahead, and DC is 1 hour ahead. She is moving back in time and the flight times are just so crazy to look at. She should be in DC around 4:00 PM today (my time). My son has been scrubbing toilets with a smile, rofl.gif I never thought in a million years I'd see that! She will spend the night with my inlaws, get some much needed rest (She has been traveling since around 6:00 AM yesterday morning (my time), starting with a 7 hour rode trip.), and she will be home tomorrow around noon.

It's all so surreal!

Ney, Im sure you are so exciting!!!:star:

You understood me perfectly.. I am the one who misunderstood and yes, we were given the license the same day. The web page suggested applying for it 30 days prior to the wedding, so that is why I thought there was a delay.

On a brief update.. DMV did not go well. He knows EVERYTHING, but there were some words he didn't understand on the test ( like Pedestrian).. he missed passing the test by ONE question and they wouldn't give him word definitions. Really sucks, but he will take it again. I did have to EDUCATE the DMV staff on what an I129F was.. because they had only seen an I129 and they didn't want to accept our 797 notice ( or whatever the NOA2 is called) as secondary evidence because it was expired. Had to point out to them that it was one of the forms listed on their papers as acceptable as evidence of legal right to be in the country.. and that EVERYONE using this form would have an expired form. Spent a lot of time explaining the whole process and what the hell the form was and how it was not possible for him to be in the country without the form being expired, etc.

We applied for the Soc card, BUT I had to EDUCATE the SSA rep on k1 visas and that they were allowed to apply for the social security card.

I have spent a lot of time EDUCATING government officials on what exactly a K1visa is and all the forms that go along with it :):)

That is a lot of explaining to a lot of people. It seems sometimes like the downside of large organizations is the overspecialization that can take place in both clerical and managerial positions.

These folks may not be encouraged to educate beyond, and develop outside, the scope of the specific job they do, day in and day out, full of predctable routines and not always ready to handle novel situations.

Thank you for providing the professional and/or clerical development to these indivduals regarding relevant documentation, you may have just made things a little easier for the next person coming through who may have a similar situation. :D

Okay, so Maggie text me today. :(

Seems that there's a problem with her medical because she was on Paxil 10 years ago. They want a letter from her doctor about it, but her doctor isn't in until MONDAY! Her interview is on TUESDAY. They signed some kind of form for her saying that it was okay for the consulate to overlook that, but that they will remove that if her doctor faxes that letter to them on time. So naturally she's worried to death about it.

I just pray that she gets the letter she needs on time, or that if she doesn't, the consulate approves her anyway. I mean, she was on Paxil when she was 17! It's insane.

I'm at work too, so I'm hoping it will occupy me...but also I am hoping to leave early because i still want to try to get some things done before he comes...I have to buy some breakfast food, order groceries, make copies of keys, buy a couple of bathroom things, clean the toilet and bathroom floor, hang a new shower curtain...aaaahhh!!

OMG, this is what you wanted, right? I will keep my fingers crossed for you!!

I hope you were able to get things done. I'm very happy for you and Ney, just Maggie and Kayla left...

Yes that's what I wanted but now that I know there's a possibility that I might be, I'm somewhat sad because my summer fun of adventure parks is not going to be happening  But if and when I find out that I actually am, I'll be happy :star:

Mmm, yeah. I'm not counting on her changing her mind. We had a bit of vehicle trouble today (with multiple vehicles, if you can believe our crappy luck) so we're heading over to my grandparent's place tomorrow to talk to them.

The bad news is that ... yeah, I'm without co-sponsor right now. The good news is that I'm heading up to Canada a week early!!!! It makes no sense for my fiance to take a day off work to drive down and get me when he has a whole week off a week earlier, so he's heading down here this next Wednesday to get me! :D Luckily, my mom is playing messenger, and says that the second she gets all the paperwork from my grandparents, she'll UPS it first class overnight and all that jazz.

I'm a little worried, yes, but praying that things work out!!
