Hi Everyone,

Sorry for my long absences as of late. I just got back from Brazil with Alice. I can't even believe that she is here, seems surreal. LOL

Anyway, just wanted to report a couple of things. I went to Brazil for the interview, I was so excited, our interview was on the 21st at 7:45am. We were in front of the Consulate at 6:15am (there was already a line). We finally got in the consulate at 8:20am. The first part in the consulate were workers gathering all the materials that needed to be taken, we then waited until about 10am when the Consul started interviewing. We were both very nervous. Then out of the blue through one of the windows the Consul officer was there waving at me, and turned out he is a friend of mine. Needlessly to say, I got interviewed by another officer, but I thought it was wild. My interview was quick and to the point. In 10 minutes we were approved. Afterwards we requested an expedited delivery of the visa (in Rio you are not allowed to pick the visa up, you have to use the courier service). Last wednesday we received the envelop with her passport and visa, as well as some sealed paperwork to give at the port of entry.

We came in via Atlanta, the officer was supper friendly asked 2 questions and sent us to another room. There another officer took the sealed envelop typed something into the computer checked a couple of things, and then handed her the passport and said that she has 90 days to tie the knot. Then we grabbed our luggage, and it was scanned by a huge machine, and then we were in the US. So no hassle at all. :)

Cheers,

Luis

PS: I will slowly catch up on the posts... But I am super happy!!! :D

Krystle.. glad to know you didn't fall off the face of the Earth or that we had not stopped spinning on our axis :)

Karen.. I take my mom on at least one recruiting trip a year. Last year I took her to China.. this year we had already planned to have it be my recruiting trip to Turkey and it just happened that our interview fell not only on the day we met, but during the time I would be there for the recruiting trip. But yes.. her main reason to go is to meet Fuat.

Luis.. Welcome back and congratulations!

Ughhhh...I am still in the clouds, but starting to prepare the things for my interview. Our embassy in Croatia, in my home city Zagreb, is well known like a very professional and I hope that I will not have a problems.

Plus I applied only once for turist visa (December 16 last year) and they approved me without problem.

I called today to check for the police certificates and a lady was so nice and gave me the whole information about all the papers I need and wish me a luck. She checked if I am already in the system, but I was not, so our papers are still on a way to the NVC.

It is nice to see Luis back here... :star: I am sure Luis you are sooooo happyyy... :star:

And Krystal...only 8 days and you are with Glenoi...wau...great!

Jenn...I do not have doubts that everything will be perfect with Fuat on interview...you are a strong lady and you will do all to help him. :star:

I think this thread is for VSC but as I’m a Sep 09 filer too, I thought I should post here for some question that I have.

First, I just wanted to say congratulations to everyone who has received their visa. I got my Fiancé interview date today, May 4th. As excited as I am, I’m kinda worried that it is 4 months past the NOA 2 approval (12/14/09) and I thought that the approval was only valid for 4 months. My guts tell me that I don’t need to worry much but I just wanted to know if anyone has had the same issue and if it was a problem. Thanks guys :)

Most consulates will go ahead and extend your NOA2 date as long as the reason for the expiry was not that you didn't send papers in on time, but was only because of scheduling. Since you've gotten your interview date I'd say that you're in the clear, but you may want to check with the Consulate where you are interviewing and maybe post the question in the Nigeria forums. I'm sure that someone who has interviewed at your consulate would know the correct answer, as I'm only speculating. I know that Canada automatically extends dates, but am not sure which other countries do, or if all do.

I'm gonna go ahead and assume that you should be just fine.

Our interview is also after our NOA2 expires. I called DOS and they said it was no problem, the Consulate will automatically extend it. I emailed the Embassy in Ankara, and sent them a letter requesting an extension, just to be safe, but have gotten no response from them.

I have read two posts on here of people who were denied, because the petition had expired.. but I am sure there are some other circumstances with that. There are far too many people who end up with interviews past the 4 months expiration for it to be a problem.

But.. not taking any chances and going to email them again. If I don't get a response I will probably call.. It can't hurt to make sure nothing stands in the way :)

It's great being in the clouds isn't it?? :) But.. time to get to work and get those papers ready :)

I hope you are right about the interview. I am not really worried about actually getting the visa. I know we will not be denied.. am worried about being put in AP and having to wait another 4-6 months and... family pressure at home is going to get worse the closer we get to the interview or to his actually leaving. Just want it over, done with and have him here :)

Don't get me wrong about the "family pressure" thing... his family loves me.. but this is a traditional country, where arranged marriages still happen and the the oldest son still moves his wife in with the family.. and she helps his mom with the housework while he supports the family. It doesn't happen everywhere anymore.. but he comes from a very traditional family. We have some obstacles to overcome besides the visa.. He's not just the oldest child.. he's the only son. Stress is high, but I am trying to keep positive.. and reading everyone's good news helps with that :)

But.. having to delay things by being put in AP will be really rough.. so I just keep praying that doesn't happen ( but Ankara seems to be handing it out like candy lately). I just checked and the last couple to go through Ankara still has not posted their results.

Going to try not to stress too much over the next few weeks.. will just focus on Krystle and her good news to come :)

Do I need my marriage certificate if I have my divorce certificate and stamped judgment of the name change? I really don't want to pay money to have a marriage certificate that I am going to burn or throw in the trash after this is done.. paid for it once before to give to the divorce judge.

Jenn: remember that faith and patience goes a long way, without them we'd all be in the looney bin by now with this process. I hope & pray that everything will work out in your favor as much as I'd like for myself.

It puts a smile on my face when you guys cheer me on, it really does make a difference. I too will be focusing on you and the good news to come... lol...I don't like country pop singers that much..but yeah it is a nice song for weddings.

I got coffee...and cake. Yes cake.. I am sick..sniffles, late for work, forgot my hat and gloves - freezing, so I got me some damn free cake for breakfast - the real kind, pound cake, with LOTS OF FROSTING

lol

I don't really like country songs either but that one moves me when I hear it. That sucks that you're sick. You knoe what's good? Honey lemon tea, the best! I haven't had cake for a minute, now you're making me hungry.

Goodmorning everyone!

We'll be thinking about you.. and I am still sure it's going to work out ..hopefully without AP.!

Do I need my marriage certificate if I have my divorce certificate and stamped judgment of the name change? I really don't want to pay money to have a marriage certificate that I am going to burn or throw in the trash after this is done.. paid for it once before to give to the divorce judge.

i didn't need my marriage certificate - only the final judgement of divorce, which they actually didn't need again since it was already in the original packet. It actually didn't even occur to me to bring my previous marriage cert!

Thanks! I was just wondering, because the interview letter listed to bring the original divorce judgement and marriage certificate among other things...

Thanks!
