Couldn't you go to a library and print them for free.. or a much cheaper price?

That's seems pretty steep for some phone bills, but you really should have them.

I've worked some ridiculous hours this week.. actually at home now and want to go to sleep, but have to make a wake up call in one hour :) Hmm.. think I'll go lay in bed and watch The Hangover on pay-per-view :)

Have a good night everyone... and a great weekend!!!!!

The library in my in my town isn't located in a area that you want to go. But I'll figure it out by this week's end

Karen, I know our consulates are different. but what kind of questions did they ask? Did they ask YOU any questions? I know some of the USC who went through the Ankara consulate actually got interviewed along with their fiance, so just trying to be prepared. We have a few strikes going against us in this, so I want to be prepared for any question possible. Would love to hear what they asked..

I front loaded the petition like crazy too.. and when we sent in packet # 3 we also included all our proof from the time of filing the petition to the time we sent packet # 3.

Part of me says I should only be prepared with additional proof from the time of packet # 3 to the time of the interview ( 3 months worth).. photos from my last trip, our emails, receipts for packages mailed, cards, phone bills and our daily MSN web cam conversations. For those, I take a screen shot of us on web cam and then I copy the entire conversation into the document. Good thing we type instead of using microphone.

But then, I am thinking I should take everything! If I did that it would be a huge amount. They already have all the photos, mail, MSN conversations, facebook messages, SMS Skype messages, phone bills, blah, blah, blah from February 2008 until November of 2009.. so should I take copies of all of it anyway?

The MSN conversations themselves fill several binders! What about financial proof? Did they ask for any further pay check stubs or anything from the time you sent them the I-134?

Four weeks from tomorrow.. it can't get here soon enough!

hey jenn, i'm not sure what your particular "strikes" are, but i was worried about a few things for our interview as well - we're both divorced, my fiance has kids, and my divorce was not final until way after we met and even after he proposed. (not sure if anyone else has gone through divorce but it takes a long time).

anyway, yes they did ask me questions and it was a very good thing that i was there. i'll post in more detail a review this weekend, but i'll try to put the basics. My honey got called up to the interview window three times. the first time, we went up there and they guy at the window wouldn't let me stay with jose, he made me go sit down. i was worried at this point because i had put together all the paperwork - but luckily we had gone over everything the night before and jose luis knew where to find everything. the consul asked him just a few questions - what's my name, when did we meet, they asked if he'd been to the US (no), if he's applied for visitor visa before (yes), and if he had family in the states (he said yes, but distant cousins and he doesn't know where they live). the last question was important because it was info from his visitor visa interview and of course that had to match. the guy took jose's birth cert, marriage/divorce cert, police record, passport photos, payment receipt, medical envelope, ds-156 & ds-156k, and the affidavit of support stuff. i'll detail that out separately. then he gave back a few items from my original packet (don't know why) and then he asked if we had more photos. jose luis gave him the 3 books. the guy asked where they'd been made and jose luis told him i made them in the states.

okay sorry this is longer than i expected...the second time jose got called up, it was with the same guy and again i was not allowed to join. it was basically some followup questions centered around his kids. if he had kids (yes), how old are they (9, 13), are they coming (no), why not (they live with their mom) and then jose mentioned he hopes they could maybe come visit him someday in the US.

then the third time it was an interview with someone else and we both went up there. (btw both the previous interactions were in spanish). as soon as we got up there the woman asked jose luis in english what year we met. i think jose was nervous and not expecting to have to speak english so he didn't respond. the woman quickly asked again, annoyed, and then turned to me and said a bit angrily "ma'am, what year did you meet?" so then i jumped in and started answering stuff. she asked me what year we met, then what month. then she asked me if i speak spanish (i'm guessing she assumed jose luis couldn't speak english since he sort of froze up when she spoke it to him. i was definitely worried about this.). i said yes, some. she asked if we communicate in spanish, and i said that when we talk, it is usually in english but when we write each other it is in both spanish and english.

then she asked me what was the reason for my divorce. she asked jose luis the reason for his divorce (now she was asking him questions in spanish). he was not specific and she pushed him for more. then she asked him what countries we have traveled to together. then she asked me how many times i have been to ecuador. she asked me what our plans were for the wedding. she seemed interested when i mentioned wanting to get married on the beach so i babbled for a second more about that. then she asked jose luis first and then me if we had kids. (though she had already asked me that after the divorce question). she asked jose luis for a second time if he had family in the states. then she asked me what i do for a living. jose luis says she totally changed when I talked about my job (in a good way) but i didn't actually notice. after a moment or two she started shoving the enormous volumes of paper i had included in the original submission through the window slot, and then finally she said "your visa is approved" and gave us the wonderful purple paper. i was so happy i kissed jose luis and i think i might have finally seen her crack a smile.

i can detail out everything evidence wise we brought, if that helps. let me know.

as far as the financial support evidence, this is what they took (i had brought more than this):

- I-134 form

- all the paystubs i had provided (i get paid weekly, so i included all weeks of dec, plus the first week of sep, oct & nov)

- my w2 and tax transcript for 2008

please let me know if you have any other questions for me, i am happy to help!

i am so excited for you! everything will go great.

i am so excited for you! everything will go great.

We had to send all the forms, I-134, police records and everything else before they would even schedule an interview for us. I plan on taking copies and figured I would probably take all my pay stubs since the time of sending packet #3. I sent 6 months worth with packet three, but assume I may need to prove to them I still have a job :)

I am worried about questions regarding the visitor visas we applied for, because Fuat just does not remember dates.. and the second time we applied a State Senator from Virginia wrote the invitation letter.. if they ask Fuat what his name is he is NOT going to remember :)

If they ask him what day we met, and he gets it wrong.. I am going to have to smack right then and there :) That is one of the great things about the date of our interview.. he couldn't possibly get the date wrong since it is the anniversary of the day we met :)

If they ask him what I do, he will NOT remember my job title but can tell them where I work..If they ask him what my actual job is.. I think he would probably say "She's the boss".. the concept of "HR DIrector".. he doesn't quite get that yet.

He can tell them where my family lives in the States and the name of my sister, but he probably would not remember my brother's name or my mom and dad's names. He will be meeting my mother, for the first time, two days after our interview ( She's coming to Turkey after the interview :)

He is so bad with dates that I always have to remind him when someone in his family is having a birthday :)

All these kinds of questions make me a bit nervous. If they ask me about his family, I can give names.. birthdates.. cities born.. I have a good memory for things like that, but I'm not the one they are probably going to ask these questions :)

I really hope they will interview him in English, so I can know everything they are asking.. but both times he went for the B2 visa interview they insisted in doing the interview in Turkish.. very bad Turkish according to him :)

As I am sitting here, I realize that one month from RIGHT NOW.. we will already have our answer and be on a bus back to Istanbul.

Your last statement just made reality sink in for me, we're finally here...

Jenn, the night before the interview and the morning of, just memorize what he needs to know over and over and quiz him on it as well. Because in a situation like this he HAS to remeber names and dates. Don't be nervous, be confident in whyat you know because if you're nervous you'll stutter and you don't want that. You'll make it Jenn :star:

It's as if I can never get a break. Just when I was slowly coming out of my depression, I'm hit with something again

As you guys know, I was robbed in November and I had a disability check in my wallet. I submitted a fraud claim to disability stating that the check was stolen.

Today I come home to a letter sayig that my claim was denied because the check was signed by me and once the check is signed it's the same as losing cash. I swear that's exactly what the letter says. So in other words, I can deposit someone's check in my account as long as it's signed by that person... Doesn't seem right but I will call 1st thing monday morning. I can't be anymore down than I already am :crying::crying::crying:

I hope passing that interview will be the ultimate picker upper :(

So basically that also means that if you steal a check from someone, and then sign their name to the back of it, that you can cash it and not have to worry about being gotten for fraud. How awesome the system is!!!!

I really am so excited for everyone here that have gotten their interview dates. I just know that we're all going to pass with flying colors! I really look forward to planning our meet-up whenever it's possible. It would be so awesome to see so many happy couples in one place at the same time.

I have decided that I'm going to try my best to go to Canada for Mathew's interview. The only thing that sucks is that if his interview isn't the week of March the 20th, I'm going to have to miss his graduation and I really don't want to do that. I suppose I could take a couple days off of work without pay, but we need every bit of money we can get to start our lives with. I'm still living at home so I don't have a place of my own. We're gonna need EVERYTHING. But in the end, I think being at the interview, supporting him, holding his hand, and being there to celebrate when they tell him we're approved is the most important thing. His graduation is a big milestone for him, but the interview is a big milestone for US.
