I agree that we are also expecting a long wait, but I can't help but think of the possiblity of getting an ealier response. Ecspecially since the embassy they are going to already has a long waiting process. I'm realistic in the fact that where my future daughter-in-law is coming from is more likely than not to go through more screening than many others here. I guess what I'm saying is we're expecting a long haul, but the sight of a quick turn around for so many people is fun to see. Kind of makes you say what if........

I know what you mean, Ney. My consulate (Montreal) seems to be painfully slow at giving interview dates, so I am really hoping the 1st phase of the process would go a little faster to make up for the long wait after the NOA2. I keep my expectations low as the last few months have really taken a toll emotionnally. Its been a hard journey already!! ... But, like my fiance says, we have to stay positive... so what if... indeed! ;)

I NEED SOME HELP PLZZZZ

Two weeks ago i received the envelop from the us consulate in montreal, and they are saying : please complete and return to this office :

1-DS-230 PART 1

2-DS-160

3-DS-156

4-DS156K

AND THE CONFIRMING RECEIPT REGARDING FORM DS-160

AND CHECKLIST (ENCLOSED) INDICATING YOU HAVE OBTAINED THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

SO MY QUESTIONS ARE:

DO I HAVE TO SEND THEM ALL ONE SHUT, EVEN AFTER MY MEDICAL EXAM?

DO I HAVE TO SEND THE ds-230 FIRST AND AFTER THE REST?

SO PLZ IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ME, I AM AFRAID TO BE LATE IF I WAIT TILL I FINISH EVERYTHING AND THEN SEND THEM

Hey! well first of all Congrats!

I believe you fill in ds-230 first and then take care of the rest, but people in this thread have just filed for the K1, so we are not in a good position to help you much at your stage...

You might want to post your own thread in the K1 Process forum or even in the Canada forum.

We, here, are just dreaming of the day we will get that enveloppe!! : )

Good luck!

I don't understand why they have to take so long to give interviews in some countries and whiz through it at others, but here's hoping they all suprise both of us.

So, I have been reading a bunch of forums lately and I keep seeing people write how they put their petition information in binders and 2 hole punched then at the top, with tabs on each section of information.. "as USCIS suggested."

???

I followed the VJ guidelines and never saw anything that said to two hole punch, tab sections or put in a binder. So.. I didn't do that. Everything was neatly submitted, and each section was binder clipped together but I do not do all the little "extras" other people are talking about.

Now, after reading peoples posts, I have gone back through all the guidelines on VJ and don't see it.. so I checked out the USCIS page and did find someplace where they wrote "this is appreciated."

Well, I am sure they don't appreciate me not doing it :)

Just wondering if any of the other September filers didn't see this handy little "suggestion" before they sent off their packets?

I will probably get placed at the bottom of a pile, because they won't want to have do to all the hole punching and binding.. but HEY.. at least I signed that darn form and they accepted the package :)

Hey I didnt put mine in a binder or 2 hole punch it. I read someware not to put in binder they will just take it out and trash it. I would have 2 hole punched it if I had a 2 hole punch but why spend money on this I think for $455 they can punch it themself as for the Tab sections I did this to my copy but again I read someware where they cut them off sso I didnt do it. Just put in envelope and mailed it off so dont worry I will be on the bottom of the pile with you!

My check was cashed, my check was cashed..

Thank Heavens, because I was getting carpel tunnel logging on to my bank 16 times a day..

It took 4 seconds to memorize the receipt number.

I know this is just the beginning of a Looong journey, but I will be the type of person to log on to USCIS every morning and every night too (and maybe once or twice for good measure in the middle of the day! )..

Come on VSC!

I have a wedding in the US, and a ceremony in Italy to attend! : )

Congratulations on getting the check cashed :D

I do think it's funny how we all get so excited about seeing money leave our bank accounts.. especially when it's going to the government!!

I just found out I will be going on a business trip to Turkey next month! WOO HOO... I thought it would be at least February until I could get back there, or maybe not even until our interview WHENEVER that is.. so I am thrilled! We haven't seen each other since early May and it's been driving me crazy.

I see another one of our September couples will be together in 8 days :) Congrats!

Here's to hoping all of you get to spend a little time with your sweethearts during our long wait!

In some of your timelines, I see "touched" What does that mean??

That means something has been done with your application. It could simply be that it was moved from one desk to another.. it could mean something more was done with it. If you go onto the USCIS web page, you can check the status of your petition when you sign in to your account. It will show the last date any kind of action was taken and this is what people refer to as a "touch"

I have read, in other forums, that every time your application is handled they scan the barcode and that is how it is registerd that some action has been taken. Again, it could simply be that your petition was moved from one pile to another. It could mean they were working on your petition.

Some people get mutliple touches, some only get one.. It seems they don't always scan it when they do soemthing with it. I think mine was probably when they took the check out of my packet to cash it :)
