Today has been a good day. I feel much much much better and have stopped running that hellacious fever and UK basketball is 15-0.

I have very high hopes for the upcoming week. :)

Thanks everyone for the well-wishes.

boo! seriously it is soooo quiet in here. i'm hoping it's just due to the holidays and not to a permanent thing. i miss my vj family! :-)

today i am trying to finish almost everything we need for the interview. i'm leaving next saturday so I don't want to be worrying about stuff when i get home from work during the week. also totally nervous because i'm meeting his kids in person for the first time. we'll be spending the first weekend with them. i'm super psyched to finally meet them but really worried about communicating, since they speak no english. i've texted with them a few times and can speak spanish quite well when writing...but speaking in person conversationally to someone i don't know is hard enough for me in english - in spanish it's even harder! but i know jose luis is super happy about us all being able to spend some time together so i hope it will be good. :-)

So when will be his POE? Have you discussed this yet?

I'm super excited about your interview being so close!!!

I'm about ready to resume my age-old pastime of sending out fingers and toes. Montreal has had our case for almost a month and not even an nibble as to when our interview will be!

thanks kayla! yes, the plan is for him to come 2 months after we get the visa. that will hopefully give him enough time to square away everything there and a chance to spend time with his family before he goes. and then we plan to marry about a month after that! (L) i've started exploring wedding possibilities (locations) but it's tough not knowing the timing. we both want to ideally marry on a tropical beach, super simple...my ideal US location would be Hawaii but it's pretty far to ask my folks to travel so i don't think that's going to happen. but trying to find something that tropical feeling on the mainland is not so easy. :( if anyone has ideas, please let me know! :)

i will send some fingers and toes for you too! Do you have any sense from other folks how long you generally have to wait to get an interview appt in montreal?

I just know that Montreal does their interview scheduling in batches. We'll probably get a March interview. All of that is well and fine with me, our wedding isn't until June 26th anyway, but I'd like to at least KNOW when our interview date is, that way I can get the rest of the support documents in line to send to him.

Or maybe even Little Palm Island. One of the girls I went to high school with took her honeymoon there and it was absolutely gorgeous.

Personally, I've never been to a beach, although I'd love to go sometime. Mathew and I are having our wedding at Cumberland Falls State Park and then renting a cabin in NC for a week. The cabin is above the cloud line and it's so pretty! I'm soooo excited!

Yeah I went back and looked at the prices of Little Palm Island. Goodness gracious that place is EXPENSIVE!

Sanibel Island I thought was absolutely gorgeous and the prices aren't too bad either. Especially if you factor in all that it includes. My ceremony and reception sites cost me $700, but that was ONLY for the location. My wedding is going to end up costing about $10,000 when it's all said and done. Sometimes I wish we had just gone with some place all inclusive. But then I wouldn't get to bang my head against the desk trying to figure out what shade of purple I need to get my rose petals in so that they'll match my hot pink and light pink ones. I mean, really, who does this?

I'm thankful that we've already got our big stuff out of the way. We've booked our honeymoon, our photographer, our reception and ceremony venue, we know who is doing our cake, I've bought my dress, veil and shoes, and with that AMAZING deal I got on the wedding stuff a while back all that's left to do really is nit-pick at all of the little things.

Nah.. I never wanted a big wedding with all the "stuff".. I would be perfectly happy running off and getting married on some beach, but my family would NOT be pleased.. so we will all go spend the weekend in Vegas.
