So I talked to the Department of State this morning..............the consulate set our interview appointment for Dec 14th of 2010!!???!! WTH? I'm so upset right now, and I cannot get anyone from the embassy in Guatemala to respond.

That has to be a mistake. It just has to!!!! Did you go to the Embassy web page? The one for Ankara lists the appointment dates by case #. They only update it about once a week, so if they have it listed you may not be on there yet.. but you should check it!

I just went to their web page and couldn't find anything listing appointment dates. Try to remain calm if you can. This just has to be a mistake. Maybe they meant 2009.. of course, that only gives you a week to get ready.

If you can't get the embassy to respond call DOS back and see if talking to another person gives you a different response.

That I am aware of, Guatemala doesn't list theirs anywhere. The primary way to contact them is through email, which I have done several time with no response. They have a # you can call for 1 hour a day, 3 days a week so Fernando is going to try to call today since I can't.

Guys I can't help but to be worried about Kayla and her mom. Everytime I check the forum, I look for good news from her.

Who knew that a set of people with mainly one thing in common (filing for K-1/2 visas) would become so close through the internet....

I know.. I keep looking for word from her too. Although I hate to think it, the fact that she has not been on here is not a good sign.

Kayle, we are thinking about!

I keep checking in to see if Kayla has responded too. I hope everything is ok!

That doesn't sound right at all someone has to have the wrong information.

Good Luck!!! Keep us posted.

First off I want to thank each and every one of you for your well wishes and your prayers. It IS a funny little thing how close we've all become in such a short time together, but I do think of you all as my family as well now too. Each and every one of you is so important to me. You being happy makes me happy.

For an update on my mom. She seems to be doing better. They released her from the hospital and I've taken her back to my papaws to stay so that he can take care of her. I have to work and I'm afraid that if something were to happen that it would happen while I was at work. It would take me 45 minutes to get home and another 45 to get her to the hospital and that's just too much time for me.

The doctor said that her body has changed so much and that little things that she eats can set off an attack but it's scary as hell. If given the chance to go back I would never let her do this gastric bypass again. She didn't need it. She's been hospitalized 4 times since November 5th, and has had 3 major surgeries total. When I took her back to the hospital the doctor told me that another surgery would probably kill her. She can't handle any more. She's his first patient that's had complications and I don't doubt that he's doing everything that he can, but I can't help but be frustrated that it's like a trial and error process with her. It shouldn't be this way. Every time she eats or drinks we have to worry about her throwing up, or worse just doing the dry heave thing. That's so painful for a person to go through. But for now she seems to be okay. I can only hope that this will be the last hospital visit and no more surgeries are in store for her.

In light of this morning's news, I emailed the consulate again, still no response. I called DOS again and they said the interview date is for sure 12/14/2010 and to contact the consulate. My fiance and I both called from 2:00-3:15, as the website suggests, and neither of us could speak to a live person. Called DOS again, they said they'd look into it but to keep calling.

Has anyone had to email their consulate yet? What was the response time?

Email for the American Embassy in Poland takes like a 7-10 days to answer. I know some are faster and some longer. Maybe you can post in the regional forum to get more details.

Luis&Alice:Thank you!

Kayla:great to have you back! I'm very happy to hear that your mom is fine, I hope she improves even more as the days go by.

P.S. Don't you ever leave your VJ family worried again! Use that blackberry of yours! (Smile ;-))

I really have to air this out & get it off my chest:I don't like it when people only visit the forum when they have a question or when they get an approval. I don't expect for us all to visit everyday because we might be busy. But on the other hand, it'd be nice to pop in and say hi sometimes other than when you (no one specific) need help. Since I've joined this forum, I've seen atleast 3 people who has that pattern and I really think it's selfish. I hope no one is offended.

This whole site is a wealth of knowledge and advice to be shared. Not everyone has had many experiences to share, and by asking questions or updating their account to show something was approved, that's also providing comparison, information, and hope for others going through the same similar situation. Some people are all business. Others may be looking for additional support. Either way, there's room for all of us and our experiences here.

Kayla, Im glad your mum is feeling better. All the best wishes for her.

I guess Im lucky that Romanian consulate answers emails pretty quickly. They answered back the next day and today I got an email that they received my package 3 forms (which i sent on friday). I guess they are not as busy as other consulates. I should call tomorrow and schedule for an interview, but Im a bit nervous about it. We aren't even 100% sure about our co-sponsor so it's gonna be a little crazy :) Well, we'll keep on praying and see what happens......
