Your visa was denied because YOU did not convince them your relationship was genuine and not based on immigration purposes. That is YOUR responsibility. Especially in a high fraud country like Haiti, the presumption is your relationship is NOT genuine, YOU have to change their mind. YOU didn't. It was NOT denied because you are not married. Getting married will NOT correct the problem unless you can convince them the relationship is genuine. Married couple applying for a K-3 or CR-1 ALSO have to prove the relationship is genuine. Marital staus has NO bearing on this, however, you WOULD be legally maaried and obligated to your spouse, even if the visa is denied again.

Do I understand you correctly?

You only just asked her to marry you THIS Wednesday?

If so, then they were right to deny you, as the K1 Visa is a "fiance" Visa and she only became your "fiancee" on Wednesday which is months after you completed your I-129F. You signed this form stating that she was your fiancee, and you were engaged when you weren't.

Thus... you lied... it's that's not really looked upon as a good thing to do that

English is not the OPs first language and it is easy to jump to conclusions based upon their imperfect English. There is another very obvious way the statement can be interpreted: that after the OP was refused the K-1 visa, the couple discussed going ahead and getting married now rather than appealing the K-1 decision. They were not just getting engaged now - they were getting married now.

It is important that you have correct facts before you start casting aspersions on someone's character. Right now, there is enough ambiguity to make it difficult to determine exactly what has happened.

D&R's from the UK... probably explains that reaction to a poor command of English.

To the OP: If you are getting married Wednesday, then your K-1 application will be void. No amount of appealing will help you with it if you are married. YOU HAVE TO BE SINGLE AND ENGAGED. *AND* you have to prove that your relationship with your fiance is real, and that you DID NOT get engaged just to be able to move to the USA.

Proof could include:

Photographs of both of you together

Written statements of both your friends and/or family

Chat logs, emails, phone bills, anything to prove constant communication

Good luck!
