I called NVC this past Friday August 28th and was told that my case/petition was received on Monday August 24th and that I am in AP. Yesterday I received a letter from NVC stating: "this letter is to let you know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa issuing post where your visa interview will take place". And it has the State dept. case #. Has anybody else who is stuck in AP at NVC also received a letter like this. I thought you only get a letter after they have sent your case to the Embassy.

I was told I was in AP too, but then my case was sent off to the embassy a few days later. And yes, I did get that letter.....so maybe your case will move quickly

Sorry to hear you are stuck in AP at NVC.

At the moment this is a common occurance. NVC are holding on to petitions from anywhere between 10-50 days. The letter is something they send out as soon as they receive the petition but is sadly not indicative of your petition actually being sent to the embassy.

The time spent in AP at NVC has decreased significantly over the last few months and there is a thread dedicated to tracking the average time spent in AP at NVC.

Below is the thread. Here you will find a number of people experiencing the same thing as you.

Good luck - keep busy by investigating what information you need to submit for packet 3. This means you will be prepared for the next stage and will be able to provide the additional paperwork as soon as it is required of you.

In our case we received that letter 3 times within a 2 week period. Valid to say that we were stuck at NVC for AP for almost 2 months before the package was sent to the Embassy.

Good luck and hang in there.

I was told that, and never did get an email. I got snail mail, though, which, if you're creative enough, can look like it means the packet was sent to the embassy.

They really could improve their communications.
