Everyone,

Will my case progress in any way in between now and my scheduled biometrics? Just wondering if my case will be "touched" at all. If not, I'll quit being so impatient and checking my online status all the time :D

Moreover--do cases get approved w/o biometrics being done yet? Just curious.

Your case may be touched before biometrics.

Getting approved before biometrics, (without being rude) you must go buy a lottery.

How are you checking your status online? Most of us have to have our biometrics done and then use the Receipt Number from the biometrics in order to register at USCIS online. At least that was the case for us. We could not register using the Receipt Number on the one year extension NOA.

Once you are registered, then you just sit back and wait for a touch or RFE or interview notice.

Good luck in your journey.

Couldn't check status online until biometrics (biometrics contained the case number - the one in the NOA1 was a dummy one I guess) and we had zero touches from the filing date until approval (today).

Status updates are very sporadic. Some people get regular updates and touches - although generally not before the biometrics. Some go all the way through the process and even after their application is approved, still have status pending from when they first filed.

The good news is if you do get touches you know they are working on your file. The bad news is that is you get no touches or anything - it doesn't mean anything at all.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
