One of the things I always loved about visiting Shanghai was that taxi drivers were not allowed to use the phone while they were driving.

I'm one of those rare birds that doesn't even own a cell phone! Tim said he'd get one for me, but you know.... I really don't want one. I've lived without one for over 5 years, and don't miss it a bit!

Shouldn't be allowed, but I did not know the Feds patrol the highways. How are you going to enforce it? Similar to the national speed limit that was mostly ignored in the West?

I'm with you on that. I do have one, but that's because I have a young child. If I'm in the car with her and we have a flat, etc., I want to have it. Also, as a teacher, I don't have easy access to a phone, so, in case of an emergency, I want the daycare to be able to reach me immediately. Otherwise, they would have to call the office. The office would have to call me on the intercom. I would have to find someone to come cover my class and then find the nearest phone to call them back.

Then I hope you are never in an emergency situation where having a cell phone would be a life saver. Those kinds of situations occur more than you might think. The day I had a flat tire out in the middle of nowhere...and the spare didn't fit (I'm one of those girls that actually know how to put on a tire) I am VERY glad I had my cell phone that day. :)

I voted NO on a national level.

I wish! Note to self: Next time make the dealership check the spare to make sure it fits before leaving the lot.

Well, as of right now, Tim and I are everywhere together...:) He's retired, and of course, I can't work legally yet. I have no idea when I'll get my license changed over, and when we'll get a second vehicle. I can't imagine going too many places, too far without him. I only drive a little bit here in town, so it's easy to go to a pay phone or into a store if I need to use one.

rocks make good hammers ... though one big enough to do this job might be a challenge to hit the tire in the correct spot ...
