Chicky,

I had the same problem on one needing copies. They wanted too much money and too long of time. I typed up a letter with all the banking information and stated the accounts, how long I had been with them, the amounts in accounts, types of accounts and their numbers. I then put a place for my signature and signature of officer from the bank. I made all copies of my bank statements. I took this to the bank and had them notarize a copy of the letter and sign it by the teller. It was accepted at the NVC and at our interview Ishteaq had copies. Good luck and hope all goes well.

Hugs,

Mary

karo,

Chicky's spouse is going for a non-immigrant visa. Yours is going for an immigrant visa.

In a lot of ways, the I-864 is much easier to deal with. Fill in the blanks and provide the documents to back them up.

I never had a bank letter--I was living overseas. I used a collection of bank statements, many of them pulled from my online access.

I did not give them a letter from my bank- incidentally it is Bank of America. I gave them 3 months worth of bank statements. Nothing was said to me about it. My co-sponsor did not have a bank letter either just a bank print out showing he had a certain balance for 12 consecutive months. The bank stamped it and signed it, but it was not on official letterhead. It was from Trustco and was free. As far as I'm aware, they never gave any of the financial stuff more than a cursory glance.

See my timeline for all previous dates!

Naturalization:

6/28/09: Mail N-400 to Texas

7/6/09: NOA1

7/24/09: Biometrics

10/08/09: Interview

11/21/09: Receive oath date

01/22/10: Oath Date

With thanks to all the helpful people who made this journey slightly more bearable.

No I'm not sure, it just lists it on stuff to submit in the instructions for the I-134. But I don't know if the consulate requires it. I have everything else for my I-134 including letter from my employer, tax return, pay stubs and the like. I'm afraid if I don't have it in there they'll want it though. I thought about just doing what Mary suggested or just printing out all my statements and having them notarize it but dunno if I can cancel my request. I'll call and see.

its the fact that they can't do anything themselves at the damn bank, ANY correspondence has to come from headquarters.

I used to bank with B of A. I went to the ATM, took out $80 got to my car, I had $60 in my hand. I went into the branch and said, "hi, my receipt says I got 80, but the machine gave me $60"

They said they'd have to investigate. Wouldn't you think at the end of the day the ATM would be off by $20 and that would conclude the investigation?

No, it had to go thru headquarters and it took me almost 2 months to get my $20 back, and I finally received a letter telling me that their thorough investigation had concluded that I was correct! That I really did only get $60 and they were going to credit my account my 20 bucks. Gee thanks!!

My husband also banks with BOA and we didnt realise that they needed time to get a letter drawn up and since he was coming here before it would have been delivered we didnt bother.

We did show up at the interview with bank statements and certificates etc and we wasnt even asked for a letter.

Almost done with it all

Well I printed all my statements out, tried to have the bank notarize a statement, they refused to do it, all they would do was print out a paper showing my accounts and the bank officer signed that. I just wrote a note stating what happened but all my bank statements are there for my 4 accounts since I opened it last May and all my other information is there for my affidavit. I don't even know if I'll have Shane take the printout from the bank with the signature as it doesn't show anything but my current balances. I don't know if its worth bringing to the embassy. Guess it doesn't hurt to include it right? I hope that's okay with them. Otherwise we'll have to wait until I get the bank letter and then send it to Shane

I am not sure if you are still following this thread, One of the thing i did when i went to the bank to get the statement, I spoke to the bank manager and let them know i know this letter asap it's an urgent matter, it has to come from headquater, once the letter is ready transfer them to the Bank manager from there they can fax a copy of the letter to the bank, so you can get it within an hour or so.

That was with Bank of America

Gone but not Forgotten!
