I DO have an opinion of Starf**ks. Imagine that. lol

I hate their coffee (was served it once on a flight - have never actually bought anything from them), hate their "culture", and hate anyone who frequents the place. Seriously. If Sian had been a person who loved Scarschmucks, then I wouldn't be with her. Shallow? No. It means she isn't a trendy little follower, which is a VERY major character flaw, in my opinion.

Edited:

Silly me. I'm talking to Sian at the same time and read .gif as .swf. *sigh* Don't ask.

the obvious argument here is, just because someone likes the way a product tastes equates *trendy little follower*?

i certainly don't consider myself that, but i like the occasional coffee from Starbucks *shrugs*

Maybe so. That's your right. Just as it's mine to detest people who frequent Starbucks and get into the whole "status symbol cup-carrying, fake Italian ordering, $8.00 cup of coffee" thing.

If someone just likes the coffee, I have no issue with them (except to question their taste...). If they're a corporate sycophant, I do.

Ok, but how do you determine who just likes the coffee and who is a sycophant??

:P Well I also like some of their coffee.... The part of your statement that struck me was saying you hate people who frequent the place and called people who drink it trendy...that's the part that I thought was a bit over the top. I am not a huge Starbucks drinker, but hey they have some good coffee drinks...

i don't really drink the stuff unless its diluted with ALOT of milk and with tons of sugar... i drink TEA! its really great stuff! :D

jig drinks coffee once in a while if he has to drive a long way or wakes up late for work... gets it from dunkin' donuts.

i went to starbucks once and got a dirty look from the barista (is that the right word?) because i wanted cocoa. they DO sell it, i guess they were just not used to people actually ordering it.

i DO love the smell of coffee though... one of the best smells on earth (right up there with chocolate, bacon and my hubby's cologne  )

I like the coffee, and occasionally buy a bag to brew at home. I try to avoid getting it at the store (too expensive!!), and i don't particularly like the culture either. I just like strong coffee. So i guess I'm not trendy and that I can continue my home-brewing???

I like really strong coffee too. However, since I so strongly disagree with the image and culture they have promoted of and for themselves, I refuse to ever buy their products.

I worked with a bunch of geeks (I'm an IT guy) who walked around all day carrying Starbucks cups, even though they were filling them with the Folgers coffee in the break room. I think that made me really start thinking about it. After I read a little more about the company, I decided that I really did hate them. As for the Starbucks Sycophants, I've always hated people who do things just because it's trendy at the moment. Doesn't matter what it is. I think it's the lack of personal identity and thought.

are you talking about an old paper cup with the Starbucks logo? Cuz that would be nuts. If however you are talking about a reusable insulated coffee cup, I don't see the problem. I have a stainless steel mug I got at Starbucks. Don't think you can see the logo anywhere on it, actually. I bought it because I wanted a travel mug and it was a good one. I use it because I like to keep my coffee warm while I'm scooting around, whether I bought it somewhere or made it myself.

As for Starbucks... I hate the over-roasted flavour of their brewed coffee. Their lattes, however, are the ones I like best. I can make pretty good lattes at home with my aerolatte.. and yes, I put it in my "starbucks" mug before I hit the road. :P
