Hi tee_pee13.

No, it does not need to be notarized. Your USC fiance(e) just has to sign it. For verification, you can find it on the first page of the form I-134, under the section called Execution of Affidavit.

When you present it to the U.S. Embassy during the interview, you should have the supporting documents with you that coincide with what your USC fiance(e) put on the form.

Hope this helps.

Pahabol lang. (Just to add.) :) It's on the I-134 Instruction Sheet pala, which you can download through USCIS: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-134instr.pdf

Even on their webpage USCIS advises that I-134 no longer needs to be notarized. :)

Hi Lady AA. :)

For CR1/IR1, your USC spouse will be asked to do a different Affidavit of Support form called the I-1864.

NVC will advise him when to prepare the I-184 and the supporting documents. But he can study it now so he can determine what documents he needs to secure. So that when he is asked by NVC to submit it, ready na.

They have also posted NVC shortcuts also. Go to the Forum where it says National Visa Center.

Is it okay to get the I-134 notarized even if its not required?? I just thought that its better to be over prepared than underprepared. What do you think??

I think some of VJ guides on the WEB site...really really need to be updated...

while they were current at the time they were built (and we thanks those who spend the time on the guides) now they seem a little outdated...

Is up you if you want waste the money,

It isn't going to help in any way - can't hurt I suppose - it's just not something that is required (even says so on the instructions; see Execution of Affidavit).
