I have a question that may be silly--but--my husband got his medical done for his K3 (non-immigrant) and now we are most likely going for the CR1 (immigrant). Will he need another medical? He got a certified copy of his immunizations....please advise...thanks for your help.

Sarah

Most definetly, if the time is over 3 months (or whatever your U.S. embassy website says, Turkish Embassy says 3 months for exam, 6 months for chest x-ray) you should retake the test, below is from http://turkey.usembassy.gov/immigrant_security.html .

..................................................................

IMPORTANT REMINDER REGARDING MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS

Medical examinations classified as "Class B (TB)" are valid for 3 months from the date the doctor signed the report. All other medical examinations classified as "No apparent decease or defect" are valid for 6 months after the doctor’s signature date. If your case is subject to further administrative processing, your medical report may expire during the process. In that case, you are required to renew your examination and submit an updated medical report to our office when you come here to receive your immigrant visa. Your visa validity will be limited with the validity of your medical report. If you plan to travel at a later date, you are advised to renew your medical report and get a visa with a longer validity.

When you return our office to receive your visa, please obtain and provide the most recent taxable year’s complete income tax returns from your petitioner and cosponsor (such as 1040 Individual income tax returns, Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statements or Form 1099, Miscellaneous Income).

Regarding the X-Ray for me, I called my doctor and they said it is safe to take the x-ray during the test as well. That is a relief... but now a new thing has occurred! They told her to check this website and not send in the green form (OF-194 Refusual Workish, I believe) until our case number shows up there. There is a newly added, one day after our appontment, case number that is one digit off from ours (it ends in a 5 instead of 6 and it is also a CR1 visa). I am hoping that they made a mistake and this is our case number as the person at the window it could take 2 months or even up to 8 months sometimes for that to go through, what are the odds this case number also becomes present the day after our interview, it must be our case and they have made a typo. I will call and find out Tuesday (Monday my time) if that is our case number then she can send in the medical report and hopefully we'll get the Visa within 5 days as they claim.... probably will take a week or two again though, plenty of time before our Mid october flight. Wish us luck. The experiation date for that case number is september 24th... right around the corner. Seems like a little amount of time to get the medical report done, but shouldn't be a problem.

EVerything went through fine--he didn't need anything else done...thanks for all the replies

Thats really nice. Looks like your U.S. Embassy/Consulate has some sensible people. When did he get the k3 visa and medical report? How many months ago?

I would not advise this route though. You should check the website of your consulate and get the medical exam occurding to that. Now I am stuck in AP (adminstrative processing) and it will take 1-8 months for her Visa to go through.

They said at her CR1 interview "it could take 2 months, it could take 8 months". This just shows how incompetent they are they can't even give a date or estimate. They have no idea what they are doing.
