Got permanent resident card - no interview

Hi guys,

I received my permanent residence card today in the mail. This confused me no end as I have not been asked to attend an interview.

Is this normal or unheard of?

Also on all the documentation and the USCIS number, it says all I require to reenter the US if I leave for less than a year is my Permanent Residency card and my passport. Is this right? Because I have heard that K1 people have to wait for two years, and my card is the two-year conditional kind.

Reform? Is Obama my new best friend?

konfuz-ed

Thanks,

Sim

hello, i dont think you need to be confused:) some people get lucky and have no interview for their permanent resident card and i believe one of them is you!!!! so you better be happy instead of being confused:)

And yes, thats right, if you want to travel outside the states for less than a year, all you need to reenter is the passport and the permanent resident card that you have in your hand now.

The permanent resident card that you just got in mail is the conditional one, 90 days before its expired you will need to apply for the 10 years one.

So congratulation!!!

Oct 2005 - met my baby

Dec 2006 - he proposed

Feb 2007 - K-1 filed

Dec 2007 - K-1 Visa Interview (denied), the reason: i was overstayed my previous visit in 2000-2003 (my bad)

Feb 2008 - I-601 Waiver filed

Sept 2008 - Waiver approved (K-1 Visa issued)

Jan 2009 - the Wedding Blessing & Reception (Bali, Indonesia)

Feb 2009 - Arrived in the US followed by the Civil Wedding & Reception (again:)

March 2009 - AOS filed

April 2009 - Biometric

May 2009 - EAD card in hand

Aug 27th 2009 - AOS Interview (approved, yaay)

Sept 2009- Green Card arrived in the mail...yippeeeew...(i want to sing of Your Love forever)

June 2011 - ROC filed

July 2011 - Biometric

Dec 2011 - ROC approved (Best Christmas ever, i must've been a really good girl this year :)

The wait would be unbearable but it'll be worth it. It strengthens the love, it attaches you even more to each other, it shows how your man would do whatever it takes to be with you, that he will never give up on you because he LOVES you!! All the waits, stresses, tears, heartaches, all the miserable feelings you feel along the way will be paid off once you get what you've been hoping for...oh and WITHOUT PRAYERS? will be like trying to start a fire with water, JUST WON'T WORK!

This is nothing unusual, some get interviewed, some do not.

Also on all the documentation and the USCIS number, it says all I require to reenter the US if I leave for less than a year is my Permanent Residency card and my passport. Is this right? Because I have heard that K1 people have to wait for two years, and my card is the two-year conditional kind.

Yes - if you travel outside the country (for less than a year), all you will need is your passport and PR/Green Card (For travel outside the US for more than a year, you would need a re-entry permit - this is for all permanent residents, those with 2-year cards and those with 10-year cards. You are no longer a 'K-1 person' but a Lawful Permanent Resident.)

There is no interview for conditional green card but you might go for one when you are lifting the conditions!

This is not exactly true - some people get interviewed for both their AOS and lifting of conditions stages while others may never get interviewed (or any combination you can think of).

Does anyone know for certain that I'll be fine to reenter the US while still a conditional resident? Has anyone done it?

I sure hope so because I am definitely planning to go back home for Christmas.

No such thing as a 'conditional resident' - you will be a permanent resident that happens to have a 2-year conditional PR/Green Card. (The only difference between a 10-year Card and a 2-year card is the expiration date. Same benefits; work, travel etc.) Anything else? Have a nice Christmas trip.
