Here is a calculator that determines how much child support is appropriate in North Carolina, IF the support settlement had been made in North Carolina. You may be able to determine an amount - and if it is more than what he is paying now you can even use that as ammunition against his claims that he should pay less because the cost of living is less. Good luck.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I was going to suggest this, my ex and I used it. He spoke briefly with an attorney who agreed the amount calculated by this program was a fair amount.

Edited to say, don't forget that you will have to pay for medical insurance on the child once in the states. This is often used in settlement cases, and only fair if you have to pay it he should help reimburse it.

It depends on the state, but I do know that because of UIFSA (Uniform International Foreign Support Act?) that child support is dependant on parents' income and the cost of living where the child lives. He'd have to file through the courts in your new state to have it reduced. (He could probably file in Switzerland, then they'd contact your state.)

Alimony is entirely fact-based in the US, so I won't even begin to guess how much you'd get.

thanks for all ur great advice... i called my lawyer today, and he told me, dont agree on anything. if he want it to be changed, he has to go to court, and coz hes now for 6 weeks in holidays, i might be gone 2 weeks later anyway to usa already.. so he sayed make the process slow, so he wont ask for a court date when i am still here... well, i will try my best.. as well he sayed, my child support is already so low, he even should increase it..

well, all this, thanks to the "wonderful" new girlfriend of my ex....
