So, if we're really polite and nice to her...maybe she'll be nice too? :(

I'm going to be SUPER organized now...I'm scared. T_T

Go with the knowledge of what you read here and be prepared for anything, if you do that you have half the battle won. Be calm cool and collected and if anyone is to be frustrated let it be them.

Just explain if asked at the interview that he was turned away at the Border until he went and got more money. Don't call it a "denial", and then no one is going to accuse you of "lying". I wouldn't worry about someone you haven't met yet. You don't know if you'll get her, you don't know if anyone else had her whether she was just having a bad day or she's just a grouch. You can't prepare for someone that's not nice other than to just take some deep breaths, make sure all your paperwork is organized and in order, and answer the questions honestly and concisely. Don't put the cart before the horse!

since i filled out the paperwork, i want to be the one to explain the situation, but i don't know how the consulate feels about sponsors/fiancees yapping away.

My USC husband did more of the talking than I did. Most of the questions were directed at him, but that was because the interviewer was really interested in what he did for a living.

should i ask to clarify right away or wait until they ask if he's ever been turned away? ugh...

Let them lead. If they bring it up, that's when you can answer honestly.

Haha she yelled at me too because nothing on my form had changed and apparently I verified the info too quickly for her liking.

To the OP, my full experience with her can be found here. But don't even worry about her. Even if she's the one who ends up reviewing your forms before the interview, just be as polite and diplomatic as possible. When you are asked about the border incident, just be honest about what happened and about the fact that you forgot about it when you filled out the form.

your experience was very informative and interesting! thanks for writing all that out! thank GOD that crazy lady was not the one to interview you. it sounds like you got lucky with your interviewer :)

anyway, thanks again for sharing your experience...very helpful!

I wouldn't sweat it...most of those people hate their jobs lol...and they are on power trips....unless they are justified, they can't deny you...just be mean lol...

I had a good experience....the lady we got was extremely nice....her and my fiance at the time chatted more than I did....he started cracking jokes with her, to the point thatshe was in tears wiping her eyes from laughing so hard....I was like 'ah remember me?, don'y you have any questions for me?' lol.... she made it very enjoyable and a happy day :)

Maybe the angry lady is interviewing too! Everyone was very nice to us until the interview and this lady was rude and mean. She finally approved my husband, but we were so stressed out and exhausted from the experience, we were not able to do anything for the rest of the day. She was easily confused and several times admitted she couldn`t remember if she asked a question or not. Then she asked me to leave the room and grilled my husband for a few more minutes before she approved him. She was not really interested in our relationship and only asked a few questions about that and didn`t want to see any of the evidence I brought (pix, email, etc) ...she was only interested in the time he spent in Canada as a student, which we were totally unprepared for. I`m sure if he had not been Iranian she would not have been so suspicious, but regardless, she was not nice to either one of us.

I agree, what did she think would happen if I left the room? That he would say something different than if I were there? I don`t get it. And there`s no reason to be rude on top of it all!

That`s the conclusion I have come to. They have something you want and they know you will do anything to get it, including put up with abuse, so they use that against people.

I've read this one before. Such a joke. They don't treat anyone with dignity and respect and they don't care that you are nervous and have been waiting for over a year for this day that could change your life.

Ugh. Sorry you got the angry lady, Childress. Glad to hear you were approved, though. :) When's moving day?

As soon as he has the visa in hand we will be buying plane tickets. :-) So hopefully in another two or three weeks.

Has anyone actually written a letter to the consulate or to someone in the government and attached their "Promised things" statement?

I know half the time it probably doesn't get anywhere, but it'd be nice to let some steam off from it
