ok thanks

Were you able to figure out the answer to the attachment question? That is the ONLY thing still holding me from going ahead with this option.

Maybe someone here will know: Since electronic processing requires all docs to be sent via email and most emails have a limit on the size of attachments that can be sent, are you allowed to zip the documents? Also hypothetically speaking, if the size after zipping is still too large, can you send them 2 emails as Part 1 and Part 2 for instance?

Does it need to be signed if it's being emailed.

Actually Malrothien is correct. You need to scan it as PDF and email it but the subject should include OPTIN.

Signing it: I am not too sure. I know when its being emailed, it doesnt need to be signed. But if you look at the link I mentioned above, the DS3032 form link allows you to fill it on your computer. I think to be on the safe side, I'll print the form that came with the email, enter info, sign it, scan it and then email it back to them with OPTIN to do electronic processing.

Signing it is required since it's the electronic processing.

what if we just emailing them using the link you mentioned about where it says

feeling out the beneficary's dob and all the questionare is that okay ,, what is PDF means sorry i don't know

Jo2010: PDF option is for people using electronic processing where you send all documents to NVC via email. So far only 2 consulates (China and Montreal) allow that. For regular processing, you can email using the template on Wiki.

Does it need to be signed if it's being emailed.

Most free services allow up to 10mb of attachment size now. PDF's are generally just a few KB for each page.

Hey Sept. NVCer's once you get your case number you will roll thru NVC, so use this time to get your 2 packets in order for NVC. Spec?, did you finish your 2 packets yet?????

Best wishes to all of you Sept NVCer's.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Paris! :) I finished everything I could, yeah--took me 6 hours, and I already had most of my documentation! It was just making sure everything was properly filled, signing the right stuff, copying it in triplicate, dotting the t's and crossing the i's... but now I have 3 copies of the AOS and the DS-230 packets, each in order, with their cover letters and originals, neatly organized on my bookcase. All I need to do is get my NVC number and I can start rolling!

Yes. :)

Dangit Mal, now I'm all confused. Can you walk me through this?

1.) I get my case number from NVC. I then give them mine and my wife's e-mail and birthdates.

2.) They e-mail us the DS-3032 form and AOS bill.

3.) I respond to the e-mail with a scanned, signed DS-3032 form attached. (Right?) I can't just write an e-mail saying: "This is my choice of agent, signed Spec's wife."

4.) I wait for the DS-3032 to be processed, I pay my AOS bill. I send the AOS stuff via snail-mail.

5.) My IV bill gets generated. I pay that bill, send the DS-230 stuff via snail-mail.

6.) NVC receives everything, approves me, sends my stuff to my AP consulate.

7.) I get ready for the interview.

That's what happens more or less, right? Am I missing anything? Because if I don't need to wait for them to send me a DS-3032 form in e-mail--if I can just reply back to them with a short e-mail saying that my wife wants me as her agent--then I'd much rather do that. But I thought that was the ONLY step I could do electronically--I still need to send in AOS and IV packets in via hard-copy, especially since my consulate is AP and requires like a hojillion originals.

Spec, I should have amended my post: the signed DS3032 is only 100% needed for electronic processing with Montreal or Ghangzhou consulates.

The rest of us who didn't/can't do electronic processing: Just use the VJ template, no attachment necessary.

Hi everyone,

I received my case number today. I am soooooooooooo happy! One step closer and it took 2 weeks just for the case number. Although I wasn't able to give my email address, because the nice operator said that they just received the case today and they need at least 1 day before they can make changes to anything. So I gotta call them tomorrow to give them my husband's and my email address, then hopefully will receive the DS 3032 soon.

Just so I make sure my feeble Persian brain is grasping this:

I do NOT need to scan and attach a signed DS-3032 to my Choice of Agent e-mail? And I can send that e-mail in AS SOON AS the NVC has our e-mail addresses and birthdates in their systems? I currently have a filled-out DS-3032 that my wife signed during our honeymoon (roughly four weeks ago): according to the wiki, I should ALSO send in that form (but with a barcode pasted onto the form) for faster processing. Is this still true?

Sorry to ask so many questions that are answered in the wiki, but it seemed to me like the requirements of the NVC were changing, and so I had planned on doing things differently once my case got to them. (Which it still hasn't, as of when I called 5 minutes ago... :( ) Since I know you recently went through this absurdly complicated process yourself, I want to double-check everything with you. :)
