Got my husbands flight, He arrives next Tuesday, Nov 10!!! YAY...

I also got the interview details... The new lady CO was nice, there was no questions about our relationship (as we have been married for a long time and had plenty fo evidence) but had her mind made up she wanted more evidence of financial security.... For everyone getting their stuff in order... if you (the sponsor) have had the same job for at least 6 months etc... not a problem.... for anyone using assets she said some interesting stuff to my hubby...

She REFUSED to consider our assets in Italy... No foreign assets, period... Our assets in the US are in a joint account, but she would not consider them unless they were in an account in MY (the sponsors) name... period... So this morning I had to move all the $$ around, move some from my business accounts and tet the lump sum (3x 125%) in an account in my name.... I knew going in that because I am a business owner, my income was questionable since my taxable amount was too low.... But I was following the guidlines that my husbands income could be used since he is working for the same employer in Europe as he will be here (had pay stubs and a letter of employment stating this plus a contract)... But she would not look at it!

For those getting interviews... She showed my husband a directive from the State Department that basically said that because of the current econimic climate, consulates should scrutinize financial sustainability and fiscal resources for intending immigrants. In other words, they are getting really picky about the fiances to be sure that the immigrants will not become a charge on the system... They are not trusting foreign income or assets and want to be sure that the sponsors are financially stable...

I am sooo happy that it worked out, but I was so careful and did EVERTHING by the book and still almost got tripped up... So be sure to have not just the proof of relationship stuff in order, but the the financials too!!!

Hi Guys

Sent my DS-230 and all other document to NVC today . Any idea how long before they send the papers to the embassy ? How long before embassy calls up the beneficiary ?

Jiggy, once the NVC gets all of your stuff into their system, it will probably take about 10 days to either give you a case complete or issue a request for more information.

Mine was received by NVC on the 9th, but they didn't issue an RFE until 10/20. I just got a case complete on the 30th & am still waiting for an interview to be scheduled. From what I understand, they don't send your papers to the embassy until after the interview is scheduled.

Best wishes!
