Hello All,

I'm mailing in my I-864EZ and I have a question regarding sending in pay stubs. I've been with my current employer for the past two years and will have to do some digging to get pay stubs from the last 6 months. I have pay stubs from the last two months on hand and a letter from my employer. Was wondering if anyone else had sent in their last few paystubs (which is optional) and have had no problems...

Thank you VJers!!

yes you have efficient pay stubs plus the employer letter is the most important one , go on and send that you should not have a problem ! good luck!! just make sure you double or triple check the form you fill in good luck with getting your staff together and the rest of the journey!!!

Thank you!!

Ok, now I'm genuinely confused.

My wife's passport is in her maiden name. All of the paperwork I've submitted--birth certificate, marriage certificate, passport bio--has all been in her maiden name. However, we both want her last name to be changed to mine when she arrives in America, hence when I filled out her information, I used my last name, and listed her maiden name as an alternate name. All of the information I read suggested this was fine.

Now I'm hearing that this will cause problems for her visa? I already sent off my DS-230 packet; what do I need to do to get her greencard issued with her married name, and not her maiden? Is this going to spark an RFE?

You have to have her passport changed... She goes through her country's system to get a new passport issued with her married name (if that is the name you wish to use when entering the USA)... The visa will be issued for her in her married name, she MUST have a passport that matches that name!!! Also, if her passport does not match the name she is using for the airline, then she cannot fly... You have to ACTUALLY change her name in her country before they will issue official documents in another name...

So there is no confusion... YOU WIFE MUST OFFICIALLY CHANGE HER NAME AND HAVE HER PASSPORT ISSUED IN THAT NAME...

Agreed!!!! You shouldn't have put your last name on the application if it wasn't her LEGAL name. NVC wants you to use legal name for application. Putting down your last name if it hadn't been changed will cause problems since passport will show maiden name and application shows married name (but not legally changed)

It is her legal name. In Iran, the passport always retains the maiden name; it's just how their system works. But her shenas-name (name certificate, the equivalent of an ID card here) now reflects her married name. So if I'm John Smith, and she's Jane Doe, then her ID now says: "Jane Smith," but her passport says: "Jane Doe."

You might want to check in the Iran regional forum and see how others have handled this issue since for the majority of country's, the passport has to reflect the name the visa is issued under... However, there might be an exception for Iran??? Check the regional..

Thanks, I think I will. My conversation with the NVC basically suggested that the NVC didn't care which name I wrote on the application--they just looked at the documentation and as long as the names were consistent, they'd approve the visa. I believe what's going to happen is that at this rate, my wife's greencard will be issued under her maiden name--but if I want it to be under her married name, all I need to do is have my wife change her passport before the interview. For the purposes of the NVC, I don't get the impression that this is terribly important.

She wants to go by her married name. She can change her passport, it's just a huge hassle since most Iranians never do this. (My mom's passport, for example, still has her maiden name.)

Yea, then all you have to do is do a name change when you get here. But if your wife has time it would be better if she could do it there so you dont have to change passports and green card when she gets to the US.

After reading your other post I would just do it here if it will take too long and will be a hassle for here there.

hello how are you?...

Call NVC ...ok.. my husband called NVC and ask them what happens.. and they told him that it isnt problem (i hope so) that when i get to USA , he needs to certificate and fix that.. but at the moment for the visa wont be problem..I Just wont have his lastname yet.. what ever name is on your passport will be the name on the visa  But they told him that i can change all that when i get there in USA.

so, You call NVC and let them know... Because the person who talked with him said that she is going to put that in computer and no worry because it happens a lot of times.

after you get to Usa and was married in that country just take the marriage papers to your local courthouse and file the papers so that you can get your name changed. JUst as if you got married here in the usa :::uscis has the papers to do the same for greencard.

Now im breathing .Good Luck!!! :star:

MAry!!!
