I sent my AOS and choice of agent form to NVC 2 days back . Now whats the next step ? Every one talks about DS-230 . I am the petitioner , am i suppose to fill it or does the beneficiary fills that form ? I just want to make sure i am ahead of the game . All information is appreciated .

The DS-230 is your spouse's actual application for a Visa. The information requested will pertain to him/her, but you can fill it out ahead of time and gather all of the documents necessary to accompany it to NVC. I filled mine out for my husband and emailed it so that he could sign it and have it all ready to roll when the $400 invoice turned to PAID.

I'm getting an ulcer here....

My stuff was sent to NVC on 10/6/09 (by certified mail - lawyer didn't send it next day). It should have been there by now, but the AVR hasn't changed to reflect that it was received.....should I be this nervous?

They take awhile to get things processed. I'd say give it a good 10 - 14 days to be reviewed. :star:

Come on NVC... Send me my IV Fee Bill before I spend the money on something else!!!:innocent:

No Julie, I had the same message for 10 days straight. I figure no change in message, the better! But I did confirm that NVC had the packet, that made me feel better about their message.

Truly happy!!!

ha Redmen! Maybe I shouldn't go to Costco this morning after all...

We went shopping Friday after a funeral. I needed a dress for a wedding on Saturday. I tried on 9 dresses, loved 5 and walked out with 4. I bought 3, hubby bought me the other one to wear on our honeymoon/vow renewal trip. Thankfully the bill was only $65... Ross Dress for Less... What a great store!!! Must stay away...

Great deal! I hate shopping, except at Costco and Target! I'm so not a girly-girl...

A honeymoon/vow renewal trip? Now that's a great idea! I mean renewing your vows on your honeymoon. Our honeymoon probably won't be until February 2011-we want to go to Australia, where we originally met (plus that'll be our 23rd anniversary of when we met). Can't plan for the trip this February of course since he's not here yet! We might as well renew our vows there! Whatever our vows were...our wedding lasted one minute!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

When wedding vows were written, the part of in Good or bad times, there needed to be a post script in there, of mentioning the Immigration process we are all in with those vows we say I Do with.

I'm not really a girly-girl either, but every once in a while I like to put a dress on instead of my usual jeans and t-shirt or capris and tank top. I don't have to dress up for work, so for me its a nice change....

We are going to the Dominican for 16 days over the US Thanksgiving holiday. He still won't be here permanently after that, but this was our original plan then we decided to move things up to get this immigration process going. So for us, this will be our "official" wedding even though we were married in June. I really cannot wait! November 20th will not get here fast enough! I'm just hoping we are done at the NVC stage by then so that I don't have to worry about anything while we are gone.

Post script in the vows is a great idea... Good or bad times, sickness or in health, times when I go crazy because immigration is really getting to me, let's not forget the frustration of moving.... hmmmm, what else.....

Has he come to visit you in the last 2 years (as you are required to show that you have physically had contact)... Do you maintain contact via e-mail, mail, or phone (I would have the records and copies of your ongoing relationship)? Do you have photos together? Also, you might want to consider letters from friends and family (both sides) that you have a valid relationship.... Along with the letter about his medical and son...
