I'd been trying to call US Embassy here in the UAE however its really impossible to get through to their phone line and no response from my email inquiry till this time. I hope somebody can give me an answer here in Visa Journey.

Situation is, I have my BC with me which was issued long time back around 1997 and have NSO stamp but its halfly worn out but still readable and clear, I would like to know if i need to procure a new copy to be presented during my interview.

Thank you in advance!

I believe it should be fine as far as its readable, anyways its been issued years before, My Birth Certificate issued in 1979 its very delicate the paper is gone so weak.....as far as its a Original copy and having concerned authorities stamp in it, it should work out.

If you were lucky enough to born in Seattle, WA, you can order a new birth cert online and have it sent next day mail (total cost is about $32). Not sure they will deliver out of the country. Check the VitalChek website. They probably have agreements with much more than just King County in Washington…

my husband's Oregon birth certificate is very fragile, difficult to read in places, and well folded but the seal is still apparent. I had no problems with it.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

If it is legible, no.

Good day and thank you to all who kindly responded.

Well today i received an email from NSO and informing me that he National Statistics Office (NSO) does not put any expiration date on the document/s. However, end-users such as the Department of Foreign Affairs and embassies require the copy of the document/s not older than six (6) months from the day of issuance.

Hmmm... I think i rather believe personal experieces than this statement.
