2.5%, my spouse and I.

I wanted to have the poll differentiate between spousal coverage and family coverage, but I would have needed four questions.

I think that's an important distinction because coverage sometimes increases dramatically when you cover a family. Also I am told the new plan here at work will not have a 'spousal' choice - it will either be single coverage or family (which I am thinking is gonna suck but am reserving opinion till I see the cost).

If memory serves (it frequently does not), I believe the premiums under my plan will slightly less than double if I add a child.

So far 50% of the respondents are stating their premium costs them 8% or above of their gross salary - which means it's a much larger pecentage bite of their take-home pay.

Seems like a lot to me.

Those 50% need to man-up, quit volunteering for the LGBT homeless shelter and git a real job.

If I did my math correctly, mine is just over 6% when I include dental coverage. My dental insurance is pretty damn high - about $95 a month and that's without my wife covered. It's a dental PPO though.
